Alright, the masses have spoken. I want to take Mr. Helios' advice and open it up to all cars but probably w/o the Camaros he's mentioned. We'll run an exhibition and take a consensus then. I am going to start testing the admin tool that supposedly automatically assigns weight to drivers when they join the server. If that tool works out I think we'll just add 50, 25, 10 to the podium that caries over to the next event. I want to keep things close but also allow guys to pick their favorite car. I know sometimes we pick cars with our heart rather than the performance.
I'm flying back from Austin on 8/23 so I don't think I will be able to host an exhibition that day. I will be booking my flights tomorrow so I will know what time I get back. If not, we can do it on the 30th.
How does Mid Ohio sit with you all for a test bed? I'm open to other suggestions.
I have a couple of track lists I will start throwing out there as well.
Lastly, are any of you running an R2P Friday night series that I should try to schedule around?
Thanks for the interest.

I can setup a practice server. I will work on it tonight or tomorrow. My son is fighting me on sleeping so I am waiting on that. I need to setup the rF2 F1 mod and server, then I will jump on this. Thanks for the offer though.
Some more info, courtesy efnet again: Car HP# Weight Updated HP# Weight AMC Javelin.....420.....3,264 415...3,220 Barracuda.......415.....3,220 Camaro ’67......368.....3,176 Camaro ’68......368.....3,176 #6, 16......404.....3,021 #23, 13......400.....3,076 FIA......437.....2,977 Camaro ’69......406.....3,121 .....#6, 9......411.....3,088 Challenger......407.....3,220 Firebird........403.....3,264 394 Mustang 67......368.....3,154 Mustang 68......397.....3,088 Mustang 69......409.....3,099 .......FIA......381.....2,867
Looks like the Camaro in question is the '68 FIA - considering the lower weight and additional power, it is not allowed.
I updated some numbers, added the Cuda. I am tired so I need to double check them all tomorrow. I'm thinking the efnet guys were using v1.9 because 1.95 has the Jav w/ less power

I think I should drive the Jav and the rest of you can drive the slower, less grippier cars!!!

I updated a few HP and weight numbers above. Jav may not be a problem. Read the bold. I need to look more tomorrow. I got tired of looking at numbers and wanted to drive. Good night!

Track food for thought... 1969_Trans-Am_season1970_Trans-Am_seasonI'm thinking the following are shoo-ins Lime Rock Park Mid Ohio no chicane Mt Tremblant Watkins Glen Laguna Seca Pacific Raceway Sears Point Road America I'm not looking for authenticity for this series. I want to use properly made tracks. I spent a lot of time on the previous series and we wound up with a couple of inferior tracks. Let's focus on tracks that are in the nature of the series. Consider ... Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Vanport Road Atlanta VIR? Mosport?

Hi guys. I can add to this discussion a little here. I was the admin for the orignal T/A series at EFNET using the older version of HistX 1.9, I ran it in the same order and tracks of the original 1969-70 series other then a couple of tracks I couldn't find.
Some observations: The Javlin can dominate, the Sunco Camaro is "The" car so we didn't allow it.
A few of the tracks I used were not great but most worked good or better for these cars. The standard tracks that always give great racing, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen and Lime Rock are great. Donny Brook ( Brainard International) proved to be one of the best tracks. I used Vanport instead of Pacific and was a great choice. Another track that some hated but I personally liked and one member found a better version then the one I used is Bridgehampton.
In efforts to equalize the cars weight was added up to 100lbs and.............it actually made the car better. So to try and answer some of the complaining I made the last half of the season that you could only drive the same car twice. This helped and made it interesting in the stratagy in picking the car for the track, yet still some complained saying that they had limited practice time and having to relearn a new car was a pain.
If I can think of anything I'll add it here or you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for the advice, KJ. I will definitely look into those tracks as well.
The Camaros in question will not be on the list since there are other Camaros that guys could drive. I would rather limit the use of the Javelin but it looks like most want to open it up. We'll probably continue with it but I'll reserve the right to nix it. This series is mostly a drop-in event. Not many practice for it. I just want to ensure a close field for max fun.
The time you spent on the EFNET series makes it easy to throw this together for GBR. Drop in if you're free on a Friday night.

Pacific Raceway. Fun track. Some fast sectors, and some tight technical ones too. Oops, and I am still running R2P when I'm home on Friday evenings.

One thing I learned is these cars suck on tight technical tracks, they need flowing tracks so you can kind of drift drive them. John ran the Season 2 series and had a good combination of cars for HistorX 1.95.

Hey Zed, Your list of cars shows a '69 Camaro, there isn't one, so I hope that means the '70, as it should be in the list.

That list is from 1.9. Sorry for the confusion. I will run through the whole thing and update tonight.
