I'm really liking these recent updates to AMS. The V8s work better for me. My only remaining issue is that the FFB feels notchy but I was able to ignore that last night.
I think that was the best night of racing I've had in these cars. Very fun and challenging.
I was far off your fast lap pace in practice but on race night I managed to find the missing time with a slightly more aggressive driving style.
Race 1 we swapped places several times (that was fun). You and I would make small mistakes and the gap would close and grow. I think I had a better car for turn-in and you were getting better corner exits so there was a lot of back-and-forth. Canada Corner was your nemesis... I undercut you a few times there!
Race 2 looked to be more of the same until you went wide at T1. I had to follow my line out to the curb and tried to get back to the middle of the track to give you room to re-enter but it appeared the grass got you. After that I just had to manage the gap back to Armando. At one point he closed up then we spent several laps locked at about 3 seconds as I was trying to preserve tires. I put in a couple of quicker laps, used up some tire and I think the gap went to 4 seconds with 5 or 6 laps to go. From there I just had to make no mistakes.
After a few days of feeling comfortable with the setup I had, suddenly when I went to practice yesterday it was a mess. Just the right amount of loose became horribly loose and I never really did get it adjusted. Stable enough to put in a decent hotlap or two, but crap during the race. YIKES! The start was horrifying...lol.
These cars are quite sensitive to tire temperature. Managing the cold tires at the beginning then later, the hot worn tires becomes a challenge!
As I said ,,, hot lap does not win the race.
And what a wonderful race.
Sensational track.
This race was so intense that I could not take my eyes off the track for a moment.
I did not see the my dashboard.
Congratulations to Dale (XMan) Green for the win, to the podium and also to everyone who brightened the event!
Beautiful dispute, Dale ,,, verry clean and too much fun.
