I've become a maybe for my own event. So I made a push yesterday so I could get home and have a couple days at home before heading back down to Portland to visit w/ Mikey (emceechild) Saturday.....and to go try to pick up my button box, which is sitting down at the Post Office. So this morning I go to start up the CPU, and I'm greeted to nothing.....absolutely nothing. I think the PSU went TU while I was away.....hopefully not a surge from a lightning strike. Going to Newegg this morning and get another one coming.....been planning to update to a 1000w, so I guess now is the time. Just need to see how fast it can get here. Hopefully it's early enough in the day, that I may be able to get overnight shipping for tomorrow.....

If you are able to meet up with Hawks and I on Saturday at PIR, I can score you a brand new Corsair 600W PSU, if your 1000W PSU does not arrive on time. Its sitting in a box. I got it after I RMA'd the bad PSU in my desktop PC. You can ship it back to me after you finish using it, or I can sell it to you for cost ($45, I think).

Oh damn. As a "last resort" option, does your laptop have a decent video chipset in it? I played rF1 well with an old laptop with GeForce 6800 video. Plug your desktop monitor into it and you're good ot go.

I should be covered. Order has already been processed as "shipped". It should be here tomorrow. www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703028I forget the specific card, but the laptop does have a separate 1GB video card.....so it probably wouldn't do half bad.....just a tiny screen. ......Unless I figured out how to run it on the HDTV. Hmmmm...... ;D

If it is any consolation, the main reason I made the push to get home for a couple days before heading back down to Portland to harass Mikey, was to tide over my racing itch.....only to be greeted to a dead computer Thursday morning. Hopefully it'll be up and running tonight sometime.....but I'll be gone all day tomorrow anyway.

So, in an event of stupidity.....there ended up being nothing wrong w/ the computer.
The new PSU arrived, which I then unboxed and laid things out to prepare for the operation. I then pulled the computer out from the counter backdrop and began pulling cables to move the case to the table for PSU replacement. As I get down to the last cable, the PSU cord, I notice it was halfway out of it's receptacle. "Hmmm.....I wonder.....wouldn't that be the shits...." Push the plug all the way in and hit the power button for shits and giggles.
Sure enough, it fired right up. Go figure. Oh well, I was going to need to upgrade the PSU eventually anyways, only now I can do it at my leisure, instead of a scramble today.
See you gents Sunday morning.

LOL when I first powered up the new PC I didn't spot the PSU was on...so thinking I was turning it on I turned it off and hit the on button on the computer...as you can imagine a moment or two of total panic. Alls well that ends well
