I got the mod installed and took the Modena Aston Martin DBR9 around Laguna. Outstanding for sure and once I get a box I can host a server on, I will be spearheading the races for this mod. Cheers! Nice, looking forward to it.

Looks like I will be installing this mod to try out next. I have a lull for a couple of weeks since I can't make the V8 race next Wednesday. This sounds cool.

Its a good mod from my short experience with it. I think the V8's do a much better job of "visceral feel" of the car on a racetrack. Both the Corvette and the Aston Martin I drove were very very smooth around the track but that might have just been the track itself (Laguna Seca).
I have ridden at Laguna and the track IS very smooth and bump free.
Cheers!

Yeah, this mod doesn't have "the edge". Very few do. The ones that I've run that I feel bring that little extra to the table : V8 Factor Unleashed (duh), PCC2007 (think V8 Factor w/ Porsche Carrera Cups) & DRM. That said, it's still an excellent and very enjoyable mod that I've killed several hours with.

PCC2007 (think V8 Factor w/ Porsche Carrera Cups) That's another one I have to try. Where would you place the Historix mod as far as quality. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the required game in order to install it.

Historix mod is high quality but the cars (at least the lower class ones) are a bitch to drive at the limit. Helios is doing better than me though. I think his style is more suited to the mod.
I'm not really enjoying myself in the efnet series but I'm trying to force myself to learn these cars.

Where would you place the Historix mod as far as quality. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the required game in order to install it. I would rate the Historix mod as very good...on par w/ Enduracers. The lower level cars are a bit slippery for my taste, but once you move up to the mid level classes and up (where they would be running full on race slicks) the mod is an absolute hoot. A couple of my fav cars are the Mk1 BDA Escort Cosworth & the Alfa GTAm. Absolute ball to drive. Graphic quality is down a little bit from V8FU, PCC2007 and some of the newer scratch-built mods, as all the models are modified version of GT Legends cars (which is an even older sim than rF). GTL is required to install the mod, though it can be found very cheap online (I think I got mine from Amazon for about $10). Pair these cars up w/ a couple of the European point to point road rally stages and you are in an entirely different world. ;D Huge number of cars. Realfeel enabled. Definitely install to it's own mod file. Highly recommended if you don't mind spending a couple extra bucks for a copy of GT Legends.

One of these days we need to catch the server open when there isn't many others around so we can hop in some of the other cars. You need to drive some of the higher end cars...the behavior is much, much different. And definitely try the Escort & Alfa GTAm. You won't be disappointed.

Cool, thanks for the insight. I'll be checking all of these out then. I am a sucker for Porsches and old Euro cars. I think I may enjoy all three of these but I need to pace myself, lol. I've been trolling the efnet site and can't seem to figure out which classes are better for novices. Those series look well organized. One of the reasons I'm liking rF is the level of organization here at GBR.

Feel free to ask all the questions you want in the Historix GT & TC thread.

I've been trolling the efnet site and can't seem to figure out which classes are better for novices. Those series look well organized. One of the reasons I'm liking rF is the level of organization here at GBR. I have spent a lot of time with the historx mod over the last week, and am really enjoying it. Most of my time has been spent doing random races against the AI at the Toban track that comes with the rFactor Lite install. Its a hoot. I also have started to install the recommended tracks on the historx web site. The cars actually are pretty reasonable to drive, assuming you keep in mind the pecularities of the cars (i.e. - rear wheel drive muscle cars, avoid braking using the gears). The force feedback feels great with Real Feel and is adjustable on the fly in game. The tracks look fantastic, and Toban, for example, seems to have that old time look to it. It looks like the other recommended tracks have the same look as well. The car selection is unparallelled, too many to ever seriously race. Make sure you do the billion dollar credit glitch listed in the Downloads folder, so you have ample funds to buy any car you want.

If you get this set up before the end of Season 4B, let me know. We can turn some laps for fun here while the others get their roundy-round kicks. ;D I'll probably end up using the nights for sleep, until I'm back to a normal work schedule, then practice for Historix/WTCC otherwise.

I'm not sure when I'll have my server up. I've been trying to snag my son's old PC but he's holding onto it for some unknown reason. Pfft! Kids!

Ran some amazing laps last night in this mod. Opened up the 24Hr Ring track, took out the C6R, changed the race start time to 10pm.
The Ring at night. Freaking amazing, pure heaven!!
Cheers!
