Good race everyone.
I figured I'd ruined my race and Helios' on Lap 1 when I went down the gearbox too fast (and maybe too far) and locked up the cold medium tires. I spun and almost everyone got by me then I dumped the clutch to shoot to the other side of the track and simply lit up the tires without moving much. Poor Helios had nowhere to go and hit my door. I got going and looped it one or two more times because I was pushing too hard.
Anyway it goes to show that anything can happen in endurance racing because we both won our classes.
Medium tires for me put Me/Smokey/Kelly on almost the same laptimes. I figured I was stuck at 25 seconds behind but then Kelly and Smokey pitted earlier than me. I knew I could two-stop on fuel and it looked like Kelly was three-stopping.
Well, my perfect strategy unfolded when I accidentally took 60 L on the final stop instead of 90 L. That meant I needed a 3rd stop to splash-and-go. After the third stop I drove like it was quali and managed to catch and pass Kelly who was on more worn tires than me.

Good fun and an almost perfect race, a coming together during an overtake caused enough airo damage to make it just a little interesting, and a damn drive through on my last stint probably cost me third overall. But a good steady performance that I am happy with. Smokey was most entertaining and filled me with confidence for the prospective 24 hour LOL

ya I couldn't go any faster if I wanted to finish without blowing up lol for a race where I was 'conserving' the car it didn't work out well ;D but I was quite proud of myself as Kelly was right there and I could feel myself itching just to thrash the vette to overtake but I man'd up and held back . before it went all pear shape I was watching F1s times like a hawk lol

yep, a very enjoyable race. Unfortunate accident for Boza meant I could run alone the last half... But that first bunch of laps were quite 'intense'

Great race! I had originally planned a 2 stop, don't push the car strategy which for the most part worked out well. Smok3y's start let me get out in front behind the Prototypes and had a clear stretch until he reeled me in. Thought I would have to push to stay in front but Smok3y said he was in conservative driving mode so that took the pressure off of me. I didn't know F1 was creeping up otherwise I would have pushed my first stop right to the limit but figured I had some room and pitted a couple of laps early. 2nd leg went *almost* according to plan but in the last few laps before my pit, Ed and I contacted in T1 as he had spun out there (I think that was your nemesis corner!) and I zigged when I should have zagged and ended up with right front damage requiring an immediate stop to fix. Limped into the pits with Ed pitting behind me and got everything sorted out for the last leg but halfway through the leg I realized I wasn't going to make it on fuel but could probably squeak it out on tires. So back into the pits with 15mins to go for a quick splash of fuel and back out. The last 10 laps came up and I roared by F1 who was just coming out of the pits. I pretty much knew I couldn't keep him at bay for long and he caught me with about 5 laps to go and I tried to hang with him but my tires were done. I was just hoping not to have a blowout. Hugely fun race for me and hats off to the lap traffic both lapping and lappers. I think everyone did a great job and there were very few incidents. Smok3y kept me chuckling at his trials and tribulations but what was the deal with you and your pit crew drinking all the beer? Next time leave some for the OTHER car on the team! Cheers!

Last minute I decided to jump in. Didn't want to just to hand the championship to Helios. Had a good groove going after a quick jump off the line which put me in the lead. Rich got by me a few laps later and my goal was to keep him in my sights. Stayed within 2-3 sec and was just about to make my first pit when my youngest daughter decided she wanted the laptop. As she started pulling on cords I looked away for 1 sec and my car veered right into the pit wall. Game over! Grrr! The sim racing Gods have been against me of late. Bathurst still stings from last Wednesday. At least my Hawks won! On the road in Chicago in OT. That helped ease the pain a bit. Congrats to the winners. Still love this mod.

So my candy bribe paid off. ;D
I'm glad you were able to attend and make a go of it anyways. I don't feel as guilty of walking away w/ points (compared to you not making it at all).

I had a good pace going until my first pit stop. I received a Drive through and didn't serve it in the required time. I thought it was a stop and go but it wasn't. So I got DQ'ed. Oh well, serves me right for not knowing the penalty sign's.

That sucked Rich. You had that one in the bag after the interference play of Hawks.

It sucks that we lost so many drivers I thought I might have to jump out when my daughter woke up, but on a selfish note I can't complain as I received my first podium ever. PS. for you Seahawks
