Hmmm....Wondering what times your putting down 109's?? The suspense is killing me ;D I will likely be mid-pack at this event. I can't find a good groove here. Ditto for me. I crashed out last time and for the life of me I can't get my bike lines out of my head and it keeps messing me up. Any chance I could just ride a track bike for this race? Cheers!

fast laps are on the edge for sure, comfy and safe-ish 1:12's, on the nuts must be what 1:10's are

FFor me, the occasional 1:10's I've been able to get are right on the edge and hitting every apex just right. Not something I anticipate doing during a race. Just hope to qualify well as passing is really tough here.

This track is so hit and miss for me. First race once I got off track it seemed like a snowball effect and I couldn't keep it on the black to save my life and ended up DNF. Second race went pretty much like clockwork and netted a top 5 thanks in part to a few penalties by key folks.
Bathurst should be fun as I love endurance races.
Cheers!

Thanks Smokey.
Good racing everyone. Congrats to Rich for his "rookie" podium.
I didn't have time to practice until last night and although I got a couple of low 1:11s I wasn't consistent and the car felt like crap.
At work today I started thinking about my setup and how I haven't really been happy with it and what could be wrong. By the time I got home I had three things to try. I scarfed back some pizza and sat down to work. The 2nd adjustment was the magic. I spent about an hour practicing offline and started seeing mid 1:10s
That pole position was lucky... on the final lap I screwed the first sector then focused on being smooth to see what I could salvage. I couldn't believe what I saw when I crossed the line.
Race 1, I realized that I had a sprint setup and I had nothing for the next race... after 8 laps the tires were hurting but I managed to hold a gap on Stinky.
Race 2, I thought I was in real trouble. With 8 good laps to a stint was I going to have to three-stop? Stinky hounded me in the first stint and my tires were shot by lap 10 or so. I saw we were coming up on traffic so... screw it, I dove in the pits for fresh tires then started back driving at 9/10ths to protect the tires. When all the pit stops shook out Stinky was maybe 5 seconds back but I made two errors that gave him 2.5 seconds then he started closing like Jaws (dun-dun... dun-dun... dun-dun...). I reset my goal to hanging onto 2nd then like a miracle Stinky's tires must of started fading and the gap stabilized. Another mistake by me narrowed the gap but I managed to hang on. Whew.

Man we are such children. Love it!! Big congrats to F1 on the sweep at PIR. Race 1 went fairly smooth. Didn't quite have enough for F1 and Stinky. By lap 8 my tires were getting really worn and Boza closed in. He might have got me on the last lap, but he made a small mistake and went in the grass. Happy with a 3rd place and a spot on the podium. Race 2 was a disaster for me. I got a poor start and had Smokey and Rich to my right going into T1. I was forced to cut the chicane to avoid wrecking the guys on my right. I saw Smokey, so I let off to give the spot back, but didn't realize where Rich was. I immediately got a stop and go. I watched the replay and the penalty was fair. My screw up. After serving my stop and go, I came back out in 20th. The rest of the race I fought my way up through the pack. I really started to press too hard and hit Jarhead a couple times and Custom 45 once. Had good pace, but the penalty cost me along with fighting through traffic all race long. Ended up finishing 11th. Frustrating, but reminds me how realistic and cool this game truly is. Thanks for everyone that came out tonight. Look forward to Bathurst in 2 weeks.
