Everyone deserves a pat on the back for that start. I was a bit jacked up from the events leading up to the start and probably wasn't the only one. Combine that with first race jitters, a bunch of new guys and one of the toughest Turn 1s on the calendar (partly because it's such a short run-up) and it's a testament to the quality of drivers we have here that we didn't have a pile-up.
My race was interesting. I got my worst quali position in a long time at a track that doesn't like me and so I knew I had a long race ahead. I did a soft-inter-soft two stop strategy with a long middle stint and that seemed to work for me. I ran mostly alone (other than lapped traffic) and maybe because my pit strategy put me out of sequence with those around me. I didn't struggle with tires at all on the final stint.
After John's performance, I'm wondering if I should've tried a 1-stop strategy. Hmmm.

Just want to reiterate how much fun I had in the race. I accomplished my VERY modest goals. lol The bumper to bumper stuff was just racing gold. Loved it. Next race can't get here fast enough as far as I'm concerned. Great stuff. We have to wait two weeks for the next race?!?!?! F! F! MAN F!

All I have to say is we have some really fast guys out here. I want to thank everyone for their patience (with the exception of one) as we tried to sort out the first race issues. We set a record tonight with the largest grid in GBR history (applause please)! Because of this, it puts a strain on the server so we are learning as we go. Hopefully we can sort it all out prior to the next race.
I want to thank each and everyone of you who came out tonight. As Dale mentioned, it looks like all but 1 car made it through Turn 1 cleanly at the start. That does speak for the quality of drivers we have. We have a lot of new(er) guys, but also a lot of guys who come in with a ton of experience. While we have a wide range of skill, for the most part I think we were able to blend well.
Overall, my race went according to plan. However, I don't know if my "plan" was the best one. I went for a 1 stop race on inters. The best I could do was mid 23's during the race (mostly ran mid 24's), which wasn't good enough to contend for a top 5. Had some good battles throughout and overall am pleased with a 6th place finish. Everyone I raced around was top notch and the communication between drivers was good.
I hope everyone had a good time and I look forward to the next one in 2 weeks!

Some honorable mentions from tonights race.
*Armando Edwards (aka Boza) gets his first V8 victory, sets the fastest lap of the race (1:20.870), and had the best consistency (98.66%)!
*Troy Eddy (aka Jarhead) was the only driver to run all 39 laps cleanly according to LR!
*P Collins (aka Leadsled) was the top climber, moving up 11 places (started 22nd, finished 11th)!
*Jeff Hooper (aka Stinky) lead the most laps at 26!
*P Sweeney had the most overtakes with 23!

I was shocked to hear that that was Armando's first win in this series. Lots of wins in the other series, though!

Points after tonight: Bear with me on this points table... I'm trying something of a replica of the F1 timing displays but I hate how proboards resizes the image. It's not helping that the knockoff font I have is complete shit. I may change this table a bit in the coming weeks. Larger size PDF available for those of you with smaller screens. If your country is listed wrong send me a PM. PDF larger version

damn what a shocker for me started well keep it clean first corner, K Juliot nearly rolled lap 3 or 4 which put me up to 4th or 5th then I turned it lap or so later & lost a coupla places, but then my rear right hit the first corner chicane which spun me facing wrong way in the sand and had to wait till 3 quarters of field went by and ended up in 18th then later in race blew a front right tyre at the 1st corner chicane and had to fight with car on my way to pits so crap race for me but I had a fun battle with hawks (before I blew my tyre) and was lucky to get 14th at the end. but awesome to see Boza finally got a 'V8' win, hopefully he gets no more so I can get one LOL but I can only go up I hope well done Boza

Thanks guys!!! FINALLY my first win and it came when I least expected it. Like John said if the race was 38 laps he would of pulled it out. My original plan was to to do a 1 stop strategy on inters, but the other day Tony let me try his tune and I was able to an extra 5 laps on softs with it(Tony thank you for that tune bro!!). I think I pitted on laps 15 & 30. After my last pit I was content with 3rd but unfortunately Jeff got into it with another car and then John had a 5 second lead on me with 4 or 5 laps left. When I saw that I picked up the pace and caught John on lap 38 thanks to his tires wearing out and was able to get by him on the last lap. Congrats John on getting a podium in your 1st GBR race and I have a feeling it won't be your last This new format is going to make this season very interesting with guys going with different strategies. Jason Whited & Dale thanks for setting this up and having patience for dealing with some of us that were having technical difficulties. Even with being on the east coast I had no problem with the late start, we should expect that with a such a large field. With all that the race was still over by 12 for me so no biggie here. Once again fun race and can't wait for the next!!

1st of all Congratulations to Boza for the win and to Tigeraid and Stinky for rounding out the podium. Great race last night. I had been really procrastinating on getting ready for this race because I could never get away from another racing sim I play sometimes. But since this is week 13 and nothing going on over there, I figured I should have plenty of time to get ready. I started Monday night. I had plenty of setups on my old PC, but wanted to start fresh. So I took the setup Tony put in the setups thread and tried it out. Thank you very much Tony. It wasn't working quite right for my style, so I made a few tweaks until it felt right, then started to work out fuel and tire strategy. I found that on softs, I could run consistent 1:23s to low 1:24s and last 13 laps making it a 2 stop race. Then I tried intermediates and found I was losing at least a second per lap, but could make it in 1 stop. So I checked how long a pit stop added to a lap and determined it was only about 20-25 seconds as long as I requested the stop. Basic math confirmed it would be a 2 stop race on softs. Intermediates would have only saved me 25 seconds in pit stop time, but cost at least 39 seconds in lap times. Using my Race setup with less fuel worked great for Qualifying. Since I didn't have to worry about saving tires, I could push a little harder and was able to get in the 1:22s. Almost got me in the top 10. My goal was to run a clean consistent race and see where I finished. My plan worked better than expected. I held concentration and didn't make any stupid mistakes. Made a couple of passes and also let a couple guys by who I knew were faster than me. Better to let them go than to burn up tires trying to hold them off, or worse cause an accident when frustration sets in and they just can't stand to be behind me anymore. I want to give a big shout out and Thank You to Dale and Jason for all the work and resources you put into running these races. You may hear an occasional grumble from me about the time, but you will never hear me complaining like what we heard last night. I understand the issues that can come up when trying to get so many guys on the track at the same time. For a while we had 30 in the server. rFactor can be a pain on a good day, so a little patience can go a long way. I have now limited my rFactor racing to only the V8s, so 1 night of staying up too late every other week isn't going to kill me. I really enjoy the racing. We have a great group of racers with the right attitude to make the races enjoyable. I was concentrating on my race, so I didn't have much to say, but I don't let the other conversations bother me either. We have some fast guys here and some that take it pretty seriously, but I don't think anyone here believe it is anything more than an enjoyable game. One thing I remember about R2P is that they start their races on time no matter what. They don't care who is having problems, if you're not ready you don't race. I don't think we need that here. If a person likes those type of rules, maybe they should stay there.

I had a good time last night as the racing was clean and fun. I was a little disappointed with my finish, but I learned a lesson about speeding in the pit lane. That one momentary lapse cost me some valuable time. Otherwise I had a blast. I'll have to work out my mike issues before the next race.

Big congrats to Boza on your first race win and to the other podium finishers. Awesome racing by everyone and a ton of fun!! Great job by the admins to try and get everyone on the grid, no problem with way it was done. I got a personal best in qualy and was surprised to get 4th then the move up to 3rd on the grid. As Smokey said I nearly rolled the car clipping the curb on the corner leading onto the back straight, loosing the position to him. Then some laps later going through the left rights I bumped my shifter down into 1st gear by mistake and spun the car, giving up more positions. I went with the softs and a 2 pit stratergie at lap 13 and 26, need to caculate my gas a little better because I had plenty. I was hoping for a better finish but knew this was going to be a tough race and I usually don't do well at street circuits. Looking forward to the rest of the season.

Congrats Boza! i cant remember. but i think that's 2-3 times that's happened. and it like a win. for someone like me.it really is inspiring to make better cars and to drive better. As for Boza Win i wasn't surprised, i knew it was a matter of time. awsome Driver with an Awsome additude. i remember when Stinky started clicking. with these cars, and at that point i knew there was awsomeness there. 2 championships later still the same dude. i hold high respect for drivers like that. i was Very let down last night when someone else showed there Professional A**! i couldn't believe my ears. and a major let down! i think the Boss handled it well and we moved on.

Congrats Boza! I still can't believe it's your first V8 win! Top 10s are going to be like gold this season. We've got some very quick drivers on board now. Going to be an interesting season for sure. I was very pleased w/ my 7th place finish last night. 2 stop race on softs for me, running about 13 laps each stint. No spins and only a couple wall slaps. Major success! Traffic was great last night, didn't get held up too much and drivers found safe places to assist with the overtake. Had fun running w/ Sweeney (bummer your tires went away the last couple laps) & Tony (always nearby, waiting to pounce) last night. See some of you guys tonight in the Mustangs.

Technical issues and a bad attitude aside, I thought it was a great race. I qualified 14th but started the race in 25th due to those technical issues and by that time I didn't care where I started, I just wanted to race. I clawed my way from 25th to 17th and ended up finishing 19 which I am not happy about, due to some dumbass mistakes I made but I am happy I was able to finish the race. Finishing was my main goal. My next goal is to finish with much fewer mistakes. I just plain forgot to brake on turn 4 like 4-5 times for some reason so that is something I need to work on, my focus. Also if you ever hear me saying something like "ah! you fucking dumbass" please know that I am talking to myself, I would never say that to another driver.
The one good thing about the personality issue is we now have a fantastic inside joke for the rest of the season. "sorry, i didnt see you on my right" "f*^k you, cmon man f*^k this!" everybody laughs!

I had a good race going until my first pit stop. I missed my spot and then let off of the pit limiter just a hair too soon. I served my drive thru and then pitted. Ran softs so I had to do another stop. I was still able to finish 9th so I can't be too disappointed. Good racing by all and well done to the admins for handling a situation quickly and efficiently. Congrats to Boza on his first V-8 win, well done.
