Wed May 15th V8 server test

I mistyped the time in the poll and can't edit it. It is 6:45 not 7:00

Jason and I would like to eliminate tracks as a potential source of our server issues. Pukekohe 2013 is a new track we've never run before but we've not customized it as far as tire choice (as was done for Adelaide and Symmons).

Wed May 15th is an off week for V8s but the DRM race is scheduled for that night. The plan here is to run the test before DRM and not affect its schedule.

Since we know Wednesdays are a good night for most guys can you please indicate in the poll above if you could be available at 6:45 (Pacific time... that is, 30 min before the regular V8 qualification time) on Wed to help test the servers? We need to load up with 20+ cars to properly test. I can not attend but I'll have someone else run my server but I should be able to monitor the test on TeamSpeak.



If enough drivers are available we will post more details. Your assistance with this test will help us decide how to proceed with creating a stable racing experience in our premiere race series.

I was just thinking, another league I'm in has races every other week like we do here. But one thing they do different is have a non-mandatory practice (optional - no points) race at the same track on the off week. It's a shorter affair compared to the official race but it gives people a chance to get a feel of the track in a race setting and also gives a chance for people to head off bugs and stuff before the actual race. So basically the Wednesday before the real race you'd have this practice race. Don't know if you guys may want to adopt that practice.

We have another series on the off week (DRM) and people's schedules are pretty full the rest of the week

Part of the reason we run V8 practice servers 24/7 is to uncover issues with the tracks and driver's configuration. These latest issues are new and seemingly related to server load. Once we sort that out, there will be no need for testing beyond the practice server.

Well I was all set for the test and then Mother Nature decided it was time for spring to show up. So that means thunderstorm, tornado warnings and no power. Power came back up about 9:30 TX time. Hope enough people showed up for the stress test.

Still got 12 on the server. Who knows if it was enough. On the Race server everything was 100% okay, no glitches or lag. On the Practice server, I saw exactly one disappearing car, for only a second or so, as he crossed the start/finish line in front of me. No one else reported anything. So, I dunno, just random luck.

Only way to be sure is with 20+ on the server though.
