Date: Sunday, August 25, 2013 Time: 7:00am PST (70 minute Warmup/Practice starts at 7:00am PST, Qualifying starts at 8:10am PST and race starts at 8:20am PST) Cars: Corvette (paid content) Track: Watkins Glen, Classic Boot (paid content) Warm Up: 70 minutes Qualifying: 10 minutes, 4 laps Race: 40 minutes Tune: Open. Here is a tune Jarhead was kind enough to find for us: Watkins Clsc Boot GBR Race.sto (1.37 KB) Keep in mind that we will have to start on time, since there is no way I can change the race start time once we are in the sim. You can be late for warm up and qualifying and can come and go as you please. There will be unlimited Fast Repairs, so no one is left completely in the dust due to a mistake. Because you all are road purists, this will be a standing start. We will do chat via the iRacing 1 room in Dale's Teamspeak server.

Woohoo! My guess is that these are not the last two Corvette races we are going to do. Perhaps we will decide to do a Corvette series starting in January???

I have found some setups, but haven't tested them yet. I will test them this week and share them here as soon as I have tested them. I will also post a lap replay and explain what gears to use in the corners.

I will likely be missing this. Have to paint my daughter's room so it depends how much I get done Saturday.

As promised, here are the setup and replay. The setup is attached at the bottom, it has enough fuel for the race. If you want to reduce fuel for qualifying, I suggest about 5 gallons. The replay is too large to attach, so here is a link to download it: www.dropbox.com/s/4w8iob7ptaooelg/Watkins%20Classic%20Boot%201.41.262.rpyTo watch the replay, download it and place it in the replay folder in the iRacing folder. By default, the iRacing folder will be in the My Documents folder. Then open up iRacing and click on Replays in the Events drop-down menu. Once in Replays, click on the Testing Replays tab since I recorded this in a test session. The Corvette has a lot of low end torque which you want to take advantage of. The rev limiter will let you run it over 6000 RPM, but that is unnecessary. It is best to shift when the green shift lights light up on the dash. The only time I would suggest to rev it farther is if you are approaching a corner and about to slow down. 1st gear is only for getting the car moving, you will not need it for any corner on this track. If you accidentally shift into 1st, you will probably spin out. When watching the replay, if you go to cockpit view, you can see the gears I am using for each corner. I will explain a lap here as well. On the front straight, you will be up to 5th, braking point is just before the 300 sign on the left, down to 2nd for turn 1. If you get the right line, you can go flat out through The Esses, but I usually lift slightly in turn 3. You should be up to 6th gear by the time you get on the Back Straight. Braking point for turn 5 Carousel is before the black barrier on the left, adjust as necessary for your driving style. Take turn 5 in 3rd gear then up to 4th before downshifting to 2nd on turn 6, braking point is before the racing surface changes color. Back up to 4th in the Chute then down to 2nd again for turn 7 Toe, braking point is just before the 200 sign on the left. On the next straight, you can shift up to 5th or rev it out in 4th, doesn't make much difference, braking point is just before the 200 sign on left, down to 2nd for turn 8. Back up to 3rd, then down to 2nd again for turn 9. Up to 4th for turn 10, you shouldn't need to brake, just lift a little before the 200 sign on the right. For turn 11, the braking point is just as the black barrier ends on the left, shift down to 3rd and your lap is done. Thanx for watching. Watkins Clsc Boot GBR Race.sto (1.37 KB)

Just getting home from a day at my folks. Will set my alarm to try to get my butt out of bed for this one, but if I don't make it you know I'm probably still sawing logs.

Trading Paints, it needs to be installed to view custom skins. It used to be a pain because it downloaded every skin used in the game, now it just downloads the skins used in the race your in. Only a small program that you run before loading up iRacing and it just gets on with it's job. Edit...Sorry link www.tradingpaints.com/page/About

A really great program that trading paints. I don't have many custom paints yet, but I'm working on some. And it's really nice to see all the other custom paints out there.
The new version is really nice. Just have to make sure you start it up before iRacing and it runs in the background and downloads any custom paints for the session you join. I have it start up when my PC turns on.
