Damn I've never seen steam dl faster than 6 mb sec and I have a 50 mb down load rate As for the attracting sim racers to iracing through steam I would have to disagree. If your aN avid "sim racer" you've heard of iracing and either use it or don't. Usually the price is the main reason they choose not. Being on steam it will attract fans of driving games, they will most likely do there 3 month free at launch and rookie class will become a Butcher shop, the other classes should be fine due to the cost/licenses and irating. On a positive I hope it lures more racers to the game and developers them into quality sim racers as simracing has been spread pretty thin these days with the amount of titles currently avaliable. @ craig would u mind pm me your tx settings plz. Cheers

Dave, don't be surprised if there are a lot of sim racers out there who have not heard of iRacing. I started doing hardcore sim racing in late 2010 and I did not try iRacing until almost 1 year later.
Also, I PM'd you my TX settings. Keep in mind that I like a ton of FFB, but I generally avoid clipping.

I'm with Dave on this one. I knew about iRacing before I even had any sort if wheel for Xbox. To be fair, they were at Lime Rock during a race weekend I attended. They had a trailer with three rigs and held a competition for the quickest lap in the prototype car. It will be interesting though.

MBps is mega bytes a second, mbps, mega bits a second. 8 bits make a byte. So to download at one mega bit a second you need 8mbps download speed.
I also agree with Dave most people interested in sim racing will have come across iRacing, I certainly knew about it while still playing Forza thanks to youtube. Feel sure hoards of joypad users will soon be making use of the free time in iRacing, just as sure most of 'em will fall by the wayside.

Ya I didn't realize it was mega bytes when I did the math it was a dl of 51 mbps. Which is good to know I thought I was getting scammed by my provider lol to tease me some more I checked Shaws website and there now offering 100 mbps with 5 mb upload and 500 gb data for only $10 more it use to be 30 or $40....sons ova So I would double my dl speed get 1 mb upload (better for hosting) and 100 gb additional data

i was checking out the iracing steam site...... Buy iracing steam launch bundle - 6 - month membership CDN$ 42.99 at checkout, auto renewed every 6 months at CDN $60.99. I surely thought they would do a free 3 month trial at launch to lure in more racers? guess we wont have to worry about a ton of timmies coming and wrecking at those prices lol

From what I understand the Steam version is just a wrapper for the iRacing site. So I don't understand why somebody would pay for it with Steam (more money too) than just go to the iRacing site and sign up.

With the latest iRacing update put out yesterday, you can now link your iRacing and Steam accounts with a Steam Key. Here are the details straight from the release notes.
Steam
- Existing iRacing users who didn't sign up using Steam may now generate a steam key to link their iRacing & Steam accounts. Here's how:
1) Go to "My Account", and at the bottom of the page there's a button to generate a Steam Key - click it.
2) Open Steam, and in the top-level menu, click Games, and then click Activate a Product on Steam...
3) Follow the steps on-screen until you're asked for a Steam Key. Type in your Steam Key, then submit it. If you already have iRacing installed on your system, you don't need to install it again via Steam in the steps following activation.
4) Finally, enable the Steam Overlay in iRacing by doing any one of these:
· Click the "Click here to enable it" button on account home once you've generated your key. This will automatically enable the Steam Overlay.
· Opening your settings dashboard on any page within the main membersite and turn Steam Overlay on under the section marked "Use Steam Overlay."
· Open or create "_use64bit.txt" in the iRacing installation directory, type the number 1 into it, and save it.
