The rF2 conversion of this is buggy as hell but I don't remember many problems with this one. There are alot of pieces of track that make alternate variations, it could be that the main track line has a few glitches where it intersects with the other track segments. I remember a practice lap that didn't count as well.
We should look around for a patch and/or get one of our track gurus to look at it. This is probably the best version of this track we'll ever get for rFactor... it's worth keeping.

As for John's first lap in qualifying not counting, he was the first one out and I bet that was before the green light came on in the pit lane. Somewhere there is a delay built in and you won't get that first lap counted if you go out long (but not always) before the green goes on. That's not a bug, it's a feature. Just wait til the clock starts if you want to be sure.
As for spinning off the track and not counting a lap, that means you missed a sector delimiter. Your lap is not complete until you've crossed all three. Naturally they are supposed to be as wide as anywhere you can drive on or off the asphalt. I usually pick a place with walls or obstructions on both sides. It's usually an easy fix in 3DSimEd. If there is a long lap in a race, add 1 to the total of his laps, look at his time and that's where he should be in the standings.
As for my race, I am glad it's over. Could not get a good setup during the week at all and just drove the snot out of the car to make up for it. Unfortunately I also drove the snot out of the left front tire and fought to keep the car on the track 80% of the time. A night to forget for me. Looking forward to Spa, one of my favorite tracks.

Congrats to the winners and podium finishers at a very demanding track. Very little practice and was way off pace, was happy to even see a few 1:08's on race night. I alos didn't have my Qualy first lap count, no timer clock just stayed on 0:00. I have never seen that before and I didn't push any parts of the track, was on the race line taking it easy on the out lap. Race one: Did ok had some good runs with a few guys. Race two: Again was doing ok and managed to gain some on others misfortune. I think I was in 10th when I came in for a pit stop even stayed out an extra lap to make sure I didn't come in when John was there. Screwed up hiting my push to talk and not pit limiter, had to do a "Stop and Go" and that pretty much did me in for any kind of top 10 finish that I was hoping for.

I have never had this happen and leave always as soon as I can when it flips to Qualifying. Have done it every time at efnet and sometimes it will even say "Game Syncing" and still counts the first lap after out lap. As for John's first lap in qualifying not counting, he was the first one out and I bet that was before the green light came on in the pit lane. Somewhere there is a delay built in and you won't get that first lap counted if you go out long (but not always) before the green goes on. That's not a bug, it's a feature. It's only noticeable on tracks with really short lap times like Oran Park. Usually I go right when the session flips over too, but not here. Watching the HUD, John was way ahead of everyone else. It could be as simple as hitting sector 1 or 2 delimiter while the track is not in a green flag condition or synced with everyone else, therefore the lap won't count. Just a theory of course but it's happened to me many times so I just wait on short tracks.

John's figuring out the soft tires I most certainly have not. Race 1 was epic, everything that's good about this series. I was quicker than Hawks for most of the race but he beat me into Turn 1 and in the end that mattered most, because it is GODDAMN impossible to pass here. The only hope for passing is to out-draft on the front straight and have more balls going into Turn 1 than the other guy, but I couldn't do that because I was on max wing and he wasn't. So I'd spend the entire lap screwing up braking zones left right and center trying to find a way around, and then he'd pull 3 car lengths down the straight and we'd do it all over again. Frustrating, but in a good way, that was great racing, plain and simple. And yes, I was pleased to see I still had a good 30ish percent left on the tires. So I might have figured out how to make INTERS last... I did not, for Race 2, figure out Softs though. I simply decided, since I had a big enough gap over second place, that I'd just pit when Jason did and hope for the best. It failed massively in the "winning the race" department though, because just like Race 1, I'd run all over his ass for 15 laps--and then on Lap 15 my tires fell off a cliff, and the gap to Hawks would go from 0.5 seconds to 3-4 seconds. He pitted, came out about 5-6 seconds ahead of me, and then I spent the next 15 laps hunting him back down, nose-to-tail, and then realized that I had pushed the tires too hard trying to catch him, and there's no way they'd last the race. So I backed off and starting running slow, settling for second place. Then he disconnected. Not the way I want to win a race, but then again, the amount of work I did to drive this turd home on these tires has to be worth something. I had 3% tire remaining on my left-front, and my last lap was over 12 seconds slower than my best. So uuuh yeah, more luck than anything really. Jeff came from over 20 seconds back to finish 4 seconds behind me. But as I said, I'll take it. I have confidence in the Inter races, at least. And yeah, someone's gotta do a super-cool slow-mo video of me and Hawks missing Bear's car on the front straight by a HAIR at 150 mph.

Race 1 got a good jump off the line and was able to take the lead into turn 1. My car was VERY squirly on this track and required 110% concentration just to keep the damn thing on the track. Had my wing set to 1, which made it tough to get through the tight corners, but made up for it on the front straight. John was all over my arse, but just tried to keep it on the Tarmac and not make any major mistakes. Very happy to get the W. Race 2 started off pretty much the same. Again got a good jump off the line. I hadn't turned any laps on softs, so wasn't sure how they would fair. Was ready to go with a 2 stopper if necessary. My main goal was to not overdrive the car, which is not easy to do. To my surprise, the tires held up much better than at COTA. Pitted on lap 17 with John just a couple seconds behind. Built about a 5 second gap to John exiting the pits. As the laps ticked by, I saw he was closing in about a half second per lap. I thought about pushing harder, but figured I would just burn my tires up in the process. He closed in within less than a second, but with about 6 or so to go, the gap started to widen again as his tires fell off. From there I knew I just had to bring it home. Next thing I know, my headphones made a loud buzzing sound and my screen went black. I then heard someone throw out an F-Bomb, then realized it was me. I immediately turned to make sure neither of my kids were in the room and luckily they weren't. Frustrated after the race, but after a good sleep I'm over it. Wanted to vent last night, but my wife just rolled her eyes at me. Great racing and still had a blast. On to Spa in 2 weeks.

I also wanted to again compliment the entire group. The racing at GBR just gets better and better. The lapped cars are doing a great job at holding their lines and giving room to allow the pass when possible. I also think the lapping cars are doing much better at not trying to force the issue. There are times when you will have to back off a bit and wait for the right moment to pass. Awesome job all around.
One last note. Can someone send me the replay of race 2? Since my PC crashed, I lost the replay file. Thanks.

Dale mentioned that your kids were probably learning some new words after your disco. Congrats on the W!
