I've got a dirty oval race. I might be able to hop on for about an hour around 6pm PST.

Just got word I'm working tomorrow, so no oval race for me. The green drops at 9pm and usually run 1.5-2hrs. Too damn late for a 5am getup. So I'll be on for a bit tonight when I get home.

Will anybody be on tonight for some practice? I haven't even installed the iRacing updates yet. I will get them installed as soon as I get home from work.
What setup are we using for the Merc? I see Sheldon was practicing with the baseline. Are we going to stick with that or does someone have something better? I will also check the iRacing forums to see if they have anything.
I have a League race which starts at 9:00. It is 35 laps at the Watkins Glen Cup track. I should be done no later than 10 or 10:30. There are full course cautions which will affect the total time of the race.

I should be on tonight at some point.
The baseline setup seemed to work very well at an autobahn practice, but that was 72L in the tank and not sure of the track temp/state.
Practicing last night in an official Sebring 24 practice with 120L I found the car did not turn in as much as I liked. So I tried lowering the diff 1 notch, no idea if I am any faster (or slower) but I thought the car turned better. I also moved brake bias a couple notches to the rear. No idea what the starting tire pressure should be as no longer sure what the optimum is. Definitely the baseline starting tire pressure is very low and so the tires never come close to reaching what I thought was the old optimum(max) of 185 kpa. But optimum tire pressure may now be totally different so if anyone can find this out that would be great.
If anyone can find/develop a good setup that would be likely better than using the baseline.

Give the Daytona set a try. It may not be so bad. We are actually using the Daytona set w/ a couple tweaks on the Audi and it seems to work pretty decent.
Yeah, haven't heard what optimum is, I think people are still searching. We were running around 180 last night, and going to try playing w/ 175 tonight. The Audi seems to be it's quickest around L2-3, then the rear end starts skating around a bit more.

Sorry for the lack of input guys. I am working late tonight and will probably start the race on 4 hours sleep. I am working on a livery for the car and may be able to post up a set up i used yesterday when I was messing around. I lowered the wing from the default set up. Went from 6 to 3. Softened the front and stiffened the rear ARB 1 notch each. I also raised tire pressures a bit. I like my cars loose...especially now that I can catch the car in a slide a lot better.

Thanks, I will give the setup a try tonight and let you know what I think. @sheldon, please post in here when you have an idea what time you can practice. I will be available from around 3:30 EDT to 9:00 EDT.

Snappy and Sheldon, I ran the set Snappy posted. It feels fine to me. I made some camber adjustments to even out the temperatures and I put the short gearing on. This track doesn't need the taller gearing. The short gears allow a better run out of the low speed corners. Here is the setup with changes: 17S2 12 hours Sebring.sto (1.96 KB)
