1. Shift + [ and ]. Unshifted [ and ] changes your field of view. 2. Tach? No. Steering wheel yes. In Options - Graphics you see Show Steering Wheel near the top right of the options 3. Rake? 4. There is a bug just introduced where you can't join some practice servers with fixed setups. members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1992593.page

I haven't driven the CTS for more than a seconds. It's the newest rookie car and was introduced after I got to A class. By the way, if your seat questions were because of the CTS, most people hate it the way it's setup. All the other cars are much better. The best way to rank up is what they call Fast Track. If your SR is over 3.00 and you meet the Minimum Participation Requirements (the MPR beside your info at the top of the main website page) you'll be promoted out of Rookie at the end of the month. All other classes promote at the end of Week 12 (seasons are 12 weeks with "Week 13" mayhem before the next season starts). The calendar shows promotion dates: members.iracing.com/membersite/member/calendar.jspFast Track comes in when you meet MPR and your SR is over 4.00. You upgrade almost immediately (or maybe it's at midnight) So you want to get the SR high and meet MPR. In ovals I used Street Stock and road I used the Solstice (I think). Then I used D class cars to work my SR up (D class races are much safer than rookie) - NASCAR National Series and the Mazda MX-5 Cup. Basically do races, places don't matter, and stay out of trouble. Lap wherever in the pack you feel safe. If people are sketchy drop 1-2 seconds back. SR is a somewhat complex forumla but at its heart is Corners per Incident (CPI). The more corners you drive and the less incidents you have (off track, contact, accident all have different severity) the higher your SR goes. Though the more laps you do the more you can absorb an incident because of CPI. This also means if you have a collision, keep driving... the clean laps will partly erase the penalty. When you cross a whole number your SR increases or drops by a bunch (either .4 or .5, I forget). That's to fully seat you in the new class. Yeah you can go down too... I think SR 1.00 gets you demoted. But when you're headed to 4.00 from say 2.95 you'll get there quickly because your next race will likely move you past 3.00 and you'll jump to something like 3.45.

OK, just ran some LRP in the CTS. 53.35 was my fast lap and there's a 53.0 in there if I could keep off the grass.

Not about the win at iRacing...it about the contact free racing..even if you hang at the back at the start and wait for them to all wreck...not competitive i know .. if your in a hurry to rank up .. that's the way they do it.

Okay here's another, how do you turn on TC? All I can find is brake assist...or are they one and the same?

Options - Driving Aids - Throttle Assistance. It's possible that it doesn't exist for some cars in a race situation (or maybe any session) for realism reasons.

Tony, the problem with iRacing is that if you start "racing" right away, you will never get up to the classes with the good stuff. My strategy when I started in December was to avoid trouble. It took me less than six months to level up on ovals and road courses to A class, which means I can run anything I want now. I now am gaining confidence, and am inching closer to the front of the pack. For example, I finished fourth over the weekend in a NASCAR National event. But/for the fact that the leader was insanely fast, I could have competed for a podium, and maybe even a win. I have started 79 oval races in 2012, and have gotten a top 5 finish in 13 of them. Not bad for a 2Old4Forza flunky!!!! Hang in there, learn the physics, stay safe and try to avoid getting caught up in the shenanigans. If you do that, you will level up quickly as outlined by F1, and you will get where you want to go. I would love it if we eventually have a hosted GBR NASCAR event featuring the Sprint Cup and/or Nationwide Cup cars and tracks in iRacing. Don't get me wrong, I love the VHR mod for rFactor, but iRacing is clearly the best sim out there.

Hang in there, learn the physics, You know I hated the CTS when it first came out but I heard that they modified the default tune and when I tossed it around LRP last night I liked it. I think it's a great learning car to build on. @lawyer: me too... once we get some critical mass with guys buying the car we'll do it.
