So that we (OK, Craig) don't go into V8 withdrawl I'm hosting a special event... "Thunder in the Forest" - the V8 Supercars at the Nurburgring. But this isn't the usual plain vanilla (knockwurst?) version... it's the 24h/endurance layout utilizing the GP track as well. If you've raced the VLN mod you know the layout. Details to follow. I have to extract the track from another mod and I'll provide a Dropbox link and load it on the test server ASAP. This will be challenging. Race distance will be in the 1 hour range (race finish will be by laps not time). All the usual GBR V8SC rules & regulations will be in effect. Stinky gets +225 kg weight correction as a reward for being GBR series champion! j/k Getting into pit lane is a little tricky here. In an nutshell, there are two ways to get into pits with this layout. You want to cut across the track (you might even have to ignore some cones) as you enter the GP loop from the Nordschleife. The other option is to potentially waste a few minutes doing the GP loop then entering the pits like normal.  |

Damn, that looks like a lot of fun, but I will be on vacation that week. Is there any chance it could be delayed a week? I'm sure Craig won't have a complete breakdown by then.

August 15 is fine with me at this point, and I have no problem with doing it after Jarhead gets back. I will need his help anyway in figuring out the track.  F1, I do request that you schedule the iRacing V8 event sooner than August 15. Between the end of V8 Supercars Season 4, and this being the iRacing off week with no Cadillac and decent NASCAR events, I am having serious withdrawal issues.  I hope to partially remedy that with GT5 tonight and this weekend, plus practice for the Porsche Supercup. It would help to know by this weekend what we are doing for iRacing V8 Supercars, so that I can start working on that and adapt to the physics of the car. |

Alrighty, here's the version I'm currently testing. It's on the V8 Practice server if anyone wants to flog it and give me feedback. Unzip into your Locations folder. dl.dropbox.com/u/25238931/Ring_2007.zip**Important** I took this straight out of the VLN mod (which contains several variations). Do not distribute it outside GBR. Some notes: - It can be tricky to find the entrance to the Nordschleife the first time because it's over-crest and blind. When you see the chicane near the end of the GP loop it'll have big round safety barriers off track. After that chicane get ready for the left turn. - You can start your hotlap quicker by doing the GP loop and staying right rather than turning left onto the Nordschleife. - This track is highly detailed. I turned down Shadows and Special Effects to get a 25% framerate increase. FYI, the V8s aren't great flyers. If you've done the secret jump at Hills of Death you know how tail-heavy these cars are. ;D |
