Rollercoaster for me last Monday night.
Race 1 coming into the hairpin of carnage on lap one, I saw nothing but smoke and cars everywhere. Then I saw a sign from the gods as a hole opened up on the inside. Dropped it into first, pinned the throttle and squirted out the other side in 5th. Slowly slipped back to 7th as I tried to fend off various attacks from those caught up in the big wreck. I caught a break as 1 of the cars running in front of me missed the braking point in the hairpin and ran deep. Gained 6th back and was able to hang on.
Race 2 was brutal. Coming into the Hairpin of Carnage, I rolled off the throttle what I thought was early, only to see the cars in front of me slowing faster and sooner than I was anticipating. I got on the brakes as hard as I could and put it broadside up against the wall to keep from running into the cars in front of me (there was barely a car-width gap against the wall). But evidently (I haven't watched the replay so I'm not positive what exactly happened) there seemed to be part of the wall that was jutting out, though you couldn't see it. There was a loud bang, the car started spinning and tossing parts all over the end of the back straight. Ended up tearing off the suspension and destroying the motor. I hope I didn't hit anyone while the car was spinning, if I did...my apologies. I did see Reynard sitting there once my car stopped spinning, I hope I didn't collect him.
Race 3 was a testimony of patience. Started dead last on the grid. Figured hell, even 10th ain't bad so my plan was just to kinda hang back for the first couple laps and see how things shook out. I eventually worked my way up to 3rd or 4th, just taking advantage of others misfortunes (turning consistent 16s helped). Gradually slid back to 5th as others recovered. Settled into a great battle w/ Reynard in the closing laps of the race (for 5th). I ended up solidifying 5th as Reynard made a late braking move to the inside. I saw him coming in and kept the car wide, looking to dive back down the inside on corner exit. Fortunately that was my plan because as the corner approached, Reynard had a brake lock up, causing his car to shoot straight across an early apex and into the tires. You probably couldn't slip more than a couple pieces of paper between our cars as he bounced off the tires. It was sad to see it end that way, as it was a hell of a fight to the end. But by god, he was going for it!
No lollygagging!
