GT Legends is now available on Steam ? This seems to be newly available, I don't think it was there before?

Fun game. Holds up well despite its age. Good force feedback, good triple screen support and the career mode looks fun. I re-downloaded it tonight from raceroomonline after seeing this thread. Glad I did.

It's one of the first sims I raced online. I used to race various Porsche with some guys at vwvortex.com around 2004 or so. That was the first time I ever raced Cadwell Park... love at first sight.

Is that the one needed to install the historic mod? If so, how much is it? And do you think it will work as a disc check for the mod? We could wind up running some Historic here if so..

It should. You just point to the location. If you were thinking of it just for the Historix mod, you can buy the disc cheaper from Amazon. I think I got mine for $7. But, if you wanted to play the original, then the Steam setup would be the way to go, as I would imagine it has been configured for Win7.

If you buy the disk version, you can get a link and code for a Windows 7 compatible version of the game. The disk won't work with Windows 7, but the download will: www.raceroom.net/specials/gt-legends-revival/This is how I did it. I used the disk in order to get the Historix mod going, and then I got the download to play.

I have the original version of the disc from when it went bargain bin many years back and have no issues running historix on 7. Tbh I haven't tried the actual game and like everything else I run a no DVD exe. I know they not technically right...but I grey area it considering I actually have the disc.

HistoriX will run just fine when installed with an original GTL disc (I have that disc - NistoriX installer simply does a disc check and might copy a few files but I don't think so).
Original GTL will not run, I believe it's due to the copy protection being incompatible with 7. The digital download version is the same game but without StarForce.

I have the original disc + the Win 7 download version. I was just thinking if it was cheap enough, others might be enticed to the Historix mod.

Well, I typed up a great review of this game, but then I lost it somehow, so here goes again. I bought this game a year or two ago from amazon. It did not work in my gaming PC, but I was able to do the "revival" offer from Simbin, which resulted in me getting a code for a Windows 7 compatible downloadable version of this gem. I tried it a while ago, but could not make it work very well. After I saw Sheldon's thread this weekend, I tried it again and am so glad I did. This game is stellar! First, the graphics have withstood the test of time quite well. I run the game at 5760 X 1200 resolution and it looks as good, or better, than any rFactor mod out there. The cars and tracks look awesome. Cockpit view is as good as it gets and the tracks have very little aliasing. I am running the graphics at full everything. I read a review of this game from early 2006 and the reviewer noted that the game required more horsepower than was available at the time in order to run it on full everything. That suggests to me that this game was ahead of its time. The game has excellent daylight and dusk effects, etc. Second, the car and track selection is awesome. If you want 60s and 70s GT cars on authentic tracks, this is the game for you. Many of you are familiar with the Historix mod. This game has many of those cars, but you get to race them as part of a structured career mode, on authentic era-specific tracks. Very cool! The cars sound great and are different from one another. Third, the physics and force feedback are amazing, as good as any other game out there even now. I can feel everything the car is doing and the force feedback is strong. The game works seamlessly with my T500 wheel, Clubsport pedals and THR8S shifter. You must use the keyboard to navigate the menus, but you can map buttons. Very cool. Fourth, the AI and difficulty in the career mode are spot on. The AI are smart and they will race you hard and try to draft you. If you make a mistake, they will exploit it. There are five difficulty settings, which is great because it gives you control over your game. I personally like my single player to be only moderately difficult and so I elected the "novice" setting, which is still not easy. There is no "rewind" option in this game. If you spin out of control, in all likelihood, your race is done and you won't win. And finally, the game has seamless triple screen support. I do not know whether they added this later, or whether it was in the original box, but either way, it looks great. I spent about five hours with this game over the weekend and I recommend it to anyone with a halfway decent PC. Go buy this game! Now...

A regular GBR server? No. I have it installed on the server though and can flip it on at any time.
