Took the plunge and got a Mustang race in at Laguna. Qualified 5th, started with the pack finished in 7th. Let a couple of guys go around that were obviously quicker. Passed a couple of guys along the way that were clearly slower! It all worked out in the end. 20 lap race and I had 7 incidents. All were tire off's coming off corners. Got to race tip to tail for a bit with some of the other drivers. It was fun. One thing seems a little weird though, everything seems like its happening in slow motion. I don't have that sense that I'm going 130mph under the bridge and over the rise. Anybody else have that sense of "lack of speed"? Cheers!

The Mustang feels slow. That is partly why I don't run it anymore.

Yes that was my feeling...and still is to a point. It got better the second time around because I have triples and the movement in the periphery helps.

As far as the sense of speed... have you set the FoV? It has a huge bearing on the feel of speed. Whip out the tape measure and put those values into the graphics config to set a FoV. Then when in car fine tune with [ and ] (I think). If you're using 3 monitors pick the Render Screens Separately to see if that works better for you.

I did set the FOV through iRacing (monitor measurements, viewing distance, etc) and it set my FOV so close I couldn't even see the dash. They set it at 45. I've backed it out to 67 and may back it out some more.
Did another race there tonight and chalk up another 7 incidents. one was a double whammy as I got tapped from behind and it knocked me off track. The rest were a tire here and a tire there.
Tbh, I was stressing about it at first and then I figured screw it. I'm here to race not get sparkling clean laps. I'll obviously avoid wrecking anyone but tires off track is just par for the course and if it happens so be it.
I won't be getting mack daddy high SR ratings each race but again, don't care. I'm not in a race to get to A License. I'll plod my way up one event at a time and enjoy the ride so to speak.
Cheers!

I found by using my one tv that a FOV of 74 works best. If I set it to what iRacing recommends, I would be about 45 also.
As for the Mustang, I really noticed that it seems like slow motion also. I like the car, it is fun and challenging to drive. I was having a lot of fun with it at the end of last season at Oulton Park and Road Atlanta. I had a really hard time getting a clean lap at Laguna though, so I didn't even try a race this week. Plus the fact that when I went into practice session, my times were about 5 seconds off the pace.
One of my new favorite cars is the Corvette. Ran it in the GT Challenge at Spa this week. Also ran it for fun in the Prototype/GT race last night with Craig at Watkins Glen. In the Vette, my times are within a second or 2 of the fast guys.

I got ROBBED!
Qualified 4th for my 3rd Mustang Cup race, did the pace lap and on the start, the 2nd place guy does a break stand right at the start/finish line.
I didn't actually tag him but the collision on iRacing figured I did and tagged me with a light contact into a major collision double whammy.
I finished 2nd overall but for a net .04 loss on my SR. It wasn't a very exciting race as first place totally checked out and 3rd place was far enough behind me to not be a threat and never made up any ground really.
I'll change my FOV after the Enduracers today. Thanks for the tips.
Cheers!
