So, how do I ghost ride with someone on my friends list in iRacing? I have heard several of you mention this, but I cannot get it work in the iRacing software.

do you mean watch or race in ghost? or i could be way off I want to be able to jump in and watch any races that the folks on my friends list are running. Several of you, including OldSlowFred and KRGDrk, have done that in some of my races and I would like to return the favor.

I know you can join a race session as a ghost car, is that what you are referring to? Oh I just saw your follow up. All I did was go to the race you were in and chose spectate.

I know you can join a race session as a ghost car, is that what you are referring to? Maybe. Do I have to get in at the start, or can I jump in as a ghost any time I want?

You can ghost race with anyone. As far as riding with them, I'm not sure if you can ride along if you've entered the session as a ghost but if you can, the fast way is to be in the session's main screen, hit the L/R buttons beside the helmet at bottom left to select them then use the replay cameras to get the view you want.
If you want to be a spotter then they need to have that enabled through the wrench icon on the main page... then I think when you pick the person off the MyRacers list at the page bottom you'll see a Spotter option pop-up.

I just checked iRacing on my iPhone. When I watched your caddy race at Laguna I went to Events and then chose the Watch/Ghost Drive/Spot option.
If I remember correctly I then chose your caddy session to watch.

You can chat if you're a spotter (obviously).
If you're just watching/ghosting I believe all watchers can chat in their own channel but not the race channel. Hoser or someone else may know that.

Ya, assuming people remember to fire up TS before entering a iR session. I usually don't bother unless I see GBR people in the warmup of the race I'm entering.
The TS sound quality is far superior to iR chat. I have two buttons mapped on my wheel. One for iRacing chat when I need it and the other is my usual TS button.

Yeah, I just habitually fire up TS if I'm running a sim.
