Well, I decided to shift gears this week and work on my SR. I started the week at 3.23 and ended up at 4.44, even after getting wrecked in my C fixed and B fixed races at Daytona. It took between 15 and 20 Late Model races at a favorable SR track, Michigan. This will hopefully get me started off well for this week's official races. The Gen 6 Sprint Cup cars debut next week at Phoenix, where the Nationwide cars are as well. The trucks are at Dover, which is a fun track for them. Sent from my HTC One X using proboards

Daytona and Talladega just don't work with the C and B license folks. There are just too many undisciplined racers in those rooms. The superspeedways are much better in the A class car with the better racers.

Sokay the superspeedways dont work well anywhere unless damage is off..while I got a 7th out 17 in my arca race tonight..I almost got lapped twice and only got the position on fuel strategy..not from dented body panels and lack of speexd...lol

I've been trying to work on my oval SR and place well in some official races that I'm concentrating on. Not always a good combination. My qualifying has improved with some help from a friend of mine, so I'm usually starting near the front of the pack. I can hold a good line, but still need a little more practice with the Truck and Nationwide car. Most of the B and C NASCAR races I have been in, I have been caught up in wrecks that happened right in front of me and I had nowhere to go. I started the week in the mid 3s for SR and at one point this weekend it dropped downed to 3.00. One more incident in that race and I would have been in the 2s. After running a few time trials and some clean races, I got it back up to 3.42.

My experience has been that its virtually impossible to avoid wrecks in front of you at the super speedways. And, wrecks happen too often because of impatient driving. That is why I don't do those races very often in the C truck and B Nationwide car. I hear Spaz's point about damage, but if you turn it off in iRacing, you will just be encouraging the low IR and/or SR reckless drivers to be even more reckless.
But, other tracks, such as Phoenix and Dover this week are a different story. The speeds are a lot lower in those tracks and so you can avoid wrecks more easily.
