With the upcoming season we will be requiring drivers to use their real name (or a name that sounds real, if you prefer) in GBR sessions. The simplest way to do this is to simply create a new driver profile in the game but you won't be linked to your old settings and tunes so here is how to do it without that happening. If you install separate mods to separate folders you will have to repeat this for each. After you do it one or two times you'll be able to do each in under 30 seconds. Step 1) Locate your existing profile folder at \<rfactor folder>\UserData\<profile name> Step 2) We want to protect your original folder so right-click it and Copy then right-click in the white area and Paste. You will be working on this copy. Step 3) Right-click the copy of your profile folder and select Rename. Type your new driver name. Step 4) The PLR file contains most of your customized settings. Open the folder you just renamed and locate your old PLR file. It has the name of your old profile. Step 5) Right-click the PLR file, pick Rename and type the **exact** same name you used in Step 3. Step 6) Now go launch the rFactor mod you have been working with. You should see your old driver name. Step 7) Click the arrows beside your name and you should be able to select the newly named profile. If you did this right your credits (top of screen), car, Statistics, etc. should not change. If these values are changing on you then stop what you're doing and post here for help. Flip back and forth a few times to verify then with the new driver name selected, go racing.

For 20 years while I was in the Marine Corps, my first name was my rank. Can I continue that here?

Hmm, no one does highlights of the Sunday series. That is the only ones I run in, so unless that is going to change is there any need for me to do this?

At this point we're addressing the Wednesday premier events (and Ian has made a similar requirement for Tuesday Spazcar). I can't speak for the other event organizers. I don't care what you use for TCM. It would make sense for you to change it in case you ever jump in a series that requires the change but it's your choice to deal with that now or later unless Hawks lays down the Boss card on this discussion

Yeah okay, it's no problem changing I've done it on the fly for a race2play race, so I'll stay as is unless asked to do otherwise.

I'm just throwing this out there for anyone else who might run into this problem. My profile folder was not located as per the instructions above. Mine was here:
C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\rFactorV8\UserData
I hope this helps.

Thanks Seb. I forgot about those of you that do the other install (I think that's the downloaded version of rFactor) that puts stuff in the VirtualStore folder.
