So last week I installed the kill all app to help gain a few more fps while gaming....it worked great I just didn't like restarting the pc to get things back to normal for reg computer activities so today I noticed when I updated rf2 and went to play it came iu core missing or damaged please reinstall rfactor 2 so I re downloaded uninstalled reinstalled twice still the same message ? So I gave up fired up rf1 all my lite installs now crash but when I checked the folders I noticed the dx.9 files missing so I installed them every thing works....so after getting bored I decided to fire up steam to run some RRE now steam won't start? It starts to load flashes a message I've yet to be able to read than stops and nothing . Being a computer noob I managed to get the rf1 working could the uninstall of kill all possibly removed my dx9 from the computer which would be a simple fix or am I looking at something different ? Only game that had no issues on start up was pcars
Cheers

What is Kill All? I use EndItAll or EndItAll2 which dose not integrate with anything, so no file loss if removed. Never seen Kill All except for the Linux Command which should not work with Windows.

OK, so first off, End it all is a self contained program, it dose not integrate with your files. All it dose is scan your processes and shut down what is not needed to keep your basic windows and network running with a very simple data base.
It dose not contain any dx files, so their is no reason why your dx files should disappear when uninstalled.
Did you uninstall anything else that may have asked if you want to remove any shared files?

Hmmm.... Steam dose require dx for it's UI, so that kinda makes sense... But why did you lose dx files? Windows will dump dll files sometimes after a multi file windows update. But not all of them. Sorry man, can't figure this one out. yet...

I have never heard of this. I can see an installer messing with the core DirectX files in the Windows directory but to yank every one out of the rFactor folders is so weird. It almost sounds like a malware thing because an application went on a search-and-destroy mission through your file system.
Where did you get EndItAll from? The one that was passed around here a while ago (Dan or Ian had it) didn't cause me any problems.

I got the app here, I am using Microsoft essentials and run a full scan and defrag every sun and has never picked up anything....I think most of my issues the noob operating it I did a repair on steam and got it all working....I did research on the error it was producing and it led to a windows registry error from a recent update so got those sorted! There was a program someone mentioned a while back for malware that they run once a month , I believe it was malware bytes? Is that correct and does anyone have a link I could use? Thanks for the help Cheers

Thanks for the help Cheers Go to cnet.com and download MalwareBytes from there. It's free. Also download spy bot search and destroy and ccleaner. I run these programs weekly, plus MS Essentials and they keep my system clean and fast.

Heh yeah like I said elsewhere a PC noob is his own worst enemy, I think it took me only about 12 hours to totally feck up my first PC to the point it would not even boot, got a lot of grief from the guy that set it up for me LOL To this day I am still capable of going that one tweak too far.

That's my main issue.....tweaking and most of the time the tweaks are mad while under the influence than when I return to it the next day I spend the majority of my time trying to figure out what the hell I did and how I got there lol
