So I installed rFactor last night. It went smooth enough, but what difference from playing an xbox game. So many options and things to adjust. Another one of the reasons I got out of computer gaming 8 years ago.
But I'm willing to go through with it if I have help.
First thing is car control. I wanted to run a few laps so I got my wheel setup and made the control settings in the game for it. Then I got out on the track and wow, something is seriously wrong here. What I am used to is the wheel will automatically center when the car is going in a straight line. I was having to fight my wheel to keep it straight. If I let go of the wheel, it would go to full lock either left or right. Made a few changes in the settings and still the same. Is this how it really is on computer racing games?
Next is all the different settings and options. Today I am going to buy a headset so I can get on teamspeak and have somebody walk me through all the settings and options tomorrow night.

Not sure what wheel you have but I can post up my settings when I get home later but I don't recall my wheel "self-centering" especially with the Real Feel plugin installed.
I too came back to PC racing games for this game and while it takes a bit to get everything setup properly, I can say that it is ABSOLUTELY worth the effort in the end!
Cheers!

I'm using CSR Elite wheel and Clubsport pedals.
I know it shouldn't necessarily be self centering. But I expect there to be resistance to turning the wheel. My wheel wants to turn all by itself and there is resistance when trying to hold it in the center even at a steady speed in a straight line.

With the V8 cars, you will need to set the force feedback in game to -100%. If it is took strong, then you can adjust according to your liking. That will solve your issue with the car pulling left and right.

I still need to get the information to get logged into the server for teamspeak so I can get everything setup tomorrow.

Yeah, what Hawks said... sounds like your FF is inverted. After you do that, it is also worth playing with steering lock in the car's garage setup. I find the default is too twitchy.
I'll send you a PM to access the server info.

Ok, thanks. I changed the FFB to a negative number in rFactor and now it feels like it should.
I got Teamspeak installed last night and was able to find the GBR server and bookmarked it.
I also downloaded and installed rFactor lite and installed it in a separate folder. I copied the rFactor.exe from my disk installation over to it.
Now I am ready to get the V8 Supercars Mod and get it installed. Lawyer said he will be on tonight to help me. If anyone else would like to help, I plan to be on starting around 6pm EST.
