Ya, good racing everyone. I'm pleased with 3rd but it came through the misfortune of others. Jeff had an incident at T2 and it looked like John C got a drive through after his pitstop. Tires worked well for me... I did three stints of: soft/inter/soft. Sorry for the hipcheck, Chris. I thought my bumper had cleared your front end. Congrats KJ for your first V8 win. No word from Hawks yet so I don't know why he discoed. Hopefully there isn't a CSW-sized dent in his living room wall now

Hey guys - had to cool off for a bit. Needed out of the house before I broke something, so ended up taking my girls to dinner (by the way, that Applebees 2 for $20 deal is the shiznit!) Qualified a disappointing 8th, but without using TCS that's about the best I was going to get. Had a great jump off the line and next thing I know I was in 4th after T1. Was running decent lap times with Boza right on my butt the whole time. Connection was nice and smooth, then next thing I know I got the dreaded "Connection Lost". Needless to say, I was a bit perturbed. Since I'm temporarily stuck in the living room, I am using a Netear N300 USB wireless adapter. Apparently it lost the wireless signal long enough to kick me out. I think I'm more bummed than normal because I really liked the track and felt I had a good chance at a podium. Oh well, that's part of online racing. Hope you guys had fun. Congrats to Kevin on his first V8 victory and to Nick and Dale on their podium finishes.

It's the halfway point of the season and there's a big change in the standings thanks to the semi-endurance points that were available tonight. Without winning a race yet this season and helped by the newcomers grabbing points by winning races, a string of top-5 finishes and Jeff Hooper's bad luck tonight, John Culbert has reached the top of the table. Jeff's now somewhere he hasn't been since the beginning of the season... 2nd place! The rest of the top 6 is unchanged though first-time GBR V8 winner, Kevin Juliot has significantly slashed the gap to 3rd place Armando Edwards. Other movers and shakers in the standings: Sheldon jumps up 3 places to be knocking on the door of top-10. Sherburn and Diamond benefit from Pat Sweeney's no-show and leapfrog him. Newcomer Haeusler continues his rapid pace and jumps from 27th to 18th. This was the lowest turnout of the season (18 drivers). Lots of drivers didn't make it tonight and they slide down the standings. PDF larger version

Congrats to Kevin on his first win in the V8's and to Nick and Dale for their podium finish. Had a good start off line and stuck to Hawks bumper and after T1 found myself in 5th . Had a nice race going with John C. and Hawks until he lost connection. Jeff sorry for that incident during pitting, I should of let you know I was pitting . Took some heavy damaged and tried to hold to 3rd but Dale wasn't having that Ended up limping it home for 4th thanks to the misfortune of others.

Well I wasn't gonna win on speed so I was going for stratagey. I am pretty sure I would have made the podium if I was not turned around on lap 3-4. Got going again with minor damage in 14th or 15th. I was able to get back to 5th - 6th by my first and only stop on lap 23. Came out and pushed hard for a few laps Got by John and knew he was coming fast on Softs and I on inters, so there was not much could do. Realized that my pitcrew had short filled my tank. Tried short shifting but was still 1 lap short. Pitted on the last lap and went from 8th to 11th while sitting still and come to find out I was a lap down to the winner so I didn't even need to pit...lol oh well great fun once again and I have to say eveyone here has welcomed me and I have not had this much fun racing since I raced F1 at TYKA in years past. Thanks again for allowing me to participate here

That was by far the most frustrating race I've had since joining GBR. Like Hawks, I decided to cool off a while before saying anything which is why I disconnected right after the race was over. Qualified 2nd which I was really happy with, had a pit strategy that I think would have worked out well. BUT, for the third week in a row, I got a stop and go on the first pit stop. Took care of that the next lap but I thought I was still in decent shape. That is until on the next lap a car came out of the pits and moved over right in front of me. I was at full speed and nailed it in the ass, essentially killing my car. Had to limp all the way around to the pits. After that the car was a turd with all the damage. Then a little later I didn't realize Boza was pitting and I spun us both again. Sorry about that Bud. Somehow I need to shake this bad luck that has been hanging over me.
Congrats to KJ on a well deserved victory!

Man I really hate missing this one. I really like practicing on the track and was all set to have a go at it. But jetlag plus a few beers rear ended me badly. Woke up scrambling and thought I had some hope to get into race but was too late. Probably for the better as I don't think I was in any condition to really race for that long anyway. From looking at the liveracers data there were alot of position battles going on. Congrats to all on what looked like a fun one.

I really enjoyed this one. My first top 10! I qualified a mediocre 12th, and fell back as far as 16th on lap 1. Whoever was behind me into turn 1 got a better launch than me and I thought we would be going side-by-side into the high speed right, but they weren't far enough alongside me to take advantage of the room I foolishly left on the right, making me hit the wall pretty hard due to my tight line. Suspension damage right then and there. Managed to run a fairly consistent race without any contact aside from that silly wall, and ended up climbing to 8th by the end due to others' mistakes and one lonely pass.
I'm ready for Queensland! Maybe I can get a top 5 by the end of the season if enough people DNF, haha.

Had a blast last night. With some good results earlier in the season with a 1 stop inter strategy, I decided to roll the dice with it again. Surprisingly I spent a majority of the race inside the top 10, only dropping outside after my stop on lap 24. Finished a season second best w/ 7th, inside my goal of a top 10. Had some great battles w/ John N, Rich M, & Sheldon. The run up until the soft tire guys made their first stops was intense, with about 6 cars stacked up behind me at times. Fortunately I had John (also on inters) helping keep the soft tire guys at bay. Congrats to KJ on the win. And a shoutout to Sheldon, with I believe a career best 6th place! I had nothing for him in the late stages of the race, as he put about 15 seconds on me in the final 10 laps. See you guys in a couple weeks as I try to keep my hopes for a top 10 in season points alive.

This race was generally a clusterfuck, but a clusterfuck much like a real V8 race sometimes is. So in a way it as fun and realistic, but sucked for a lot of people. I am absolutely delighted I somehow ass-backwarded my way into a top 5. Just fortunate for me that Jeff had a worse race. This was the first race all season where I felt I HAD to run a completely different setup from qualifying to race. In Qualifying I had the wing all the way off, and the car slammed to the ground, and could get into the mid-low 11s with a lot of effort. Didn't end up that way in Qual so started in the third row... But because of the way I abuse curbs, the setup would have failed me COMPLETELY in Race trim, so I ran a totally different setup, extra soft, with downforce, and raised ride height so that I would be safer and way more consistent. The upside to that setup is that, while a bit slower on softs, I was much better on Inters because of the extra roll in the car. So my plan was Soft/Soft/Inter, and I was happy to see the roley-poley setup made the SOFTS last a bit longer too--made it a whole 12 laps! Everything was going perfectly--I think in terms of my overall race pace I would have had something for the two leaders, but sure enough, my first penalty of the whole season on that awful, awful pit entrance, locking up the brakes sliding into the entry and still got a stop-n-go for speeding. So that dropped me to the back of the top 10 but I figured with pace, I might still manage a podium. Knocked off some spots, and then, lo and behold, I realized I didn't take enough fuel. So, sudden strategy change AGAIN, I decide to run the tank almost dry on Intermediates, and thankfully my Intermediate pace was good enough that only one guy passed me, KJ, on the way to the front. Pitted with 10 to go, put Softs AND some more damn fuel in... So that's two extra stops than I had planned, and tore my way back to the front. Put a pretty aggressive and ambitious move on Nelson, on the absolute limit banging doors through Turn 10 and down through Turn 11. I hope Hawks can get that battle into the video recap, because I think both of us had to change our underwear afterwards. He made me work for it, but that was clean and hard as racing can get--he's a pleasure to race with. I had to make that move aggressively in the hopes of catching Boza, and while I got within 3 seconds or so, I ran out of time. So yeah, 5th after all that mess? And it was 34 degrees C in my office the whole time? Damn right I'll take it. Huge congrats to KJ; with the kind of speed Nick has, this has to be considered a minor upset at least, and he kicked ass the way he needed to--by making his tire strategy work. Still doesn't count as the first ESR victory though dammit! And I absolutely, ABSOLUTELY love this track.

Also, as far as what happened to Jeff... I can only suggest in the future when exit and entry into the pits is as problematic as it is at this place, that we go over CORRECT ways to exit and enter the pits in terms of traffic, so everyone does the same thing. Particularly on exit--I came out RIGHT in front of Tony after my stop-n-go, and by the time I was in 5th gear and moving well, I was JUST approaching the Turn 1 kink. I don't know if Tony did slow down or not, but it looked like it, and thank you for that, otherwise it could have been a huge mess. If everyone had a firm idea on what to do and where to go if you're coming out in traffic, a problem like Jeff's might not have happened. And yeah, that pit entry sucked... But I think if we all had known about it and practiced the hell out of it leading up to the race, less of us would have been screwed over. Live and learn.

sorry i missed the race guys - wasn't planned.
and KJ and Rich will tell you - I wasn't fast here so I probably would of been a potential hazard. I hated this track.
BUT most importantly - Big Congrats goes out to Kevin for his win. You all are (atleast my opinion) some very top V8 drivers. I appreciate the opportunity to race with you all. See you at the next one.

With respect to the pit exit, we perhaps should have reminded drivers to obey the pit exit lines on the track.
That forces cars to come out of pits to the track's right "lane". Upcoming drivers have multiple ways of knowing they need to maintain the left lane (driver labels, track position display, watch for the flashing blue light, etc.). I find the driver labels to be the easiest way as you can tell when the car will pop out from behind the armco.
As always, a little communication is key. That's why we use TS. I hit Boza because I was so focused on a pass I didn't think to talk with him... in the end we both knew I was going by, we just had different plans on how that was going to happen. All I had to do was say "I'm cutting inside" and we'd have been through T2 and on our way.

Definitely get off that wireless, even if you have to string rj45 across your floor! Wireless is the bane of online racing. If a run of cable won't work due to wife, kids, dogs, etc. Take a look at the powerline networking adaptors. I have a set of Trendnet 200 Mbps adapters that work great. You plug one into the wall at an easily accessible point and plug the other near your PC and run a short length of network cable. Real world speeds are nowhere near 200 Mbps (I get 10-100 depending where I am in the house) but it gets thr job done if running cable is inconvenient or if you just need a temporary solution. Right now I use it because my rig has a temporary home in the dining room and I didn't feel like running cable and installing a wall box just for that. Watch for sales. ncix.com (well, the Canadian version) has them on sale all the time. No need to pay full retail.
