Welcome to Spazcar!
Your Tuesday Night Thunder here on GBR!
Practice opens at 7:00 PM PDT
Drivers Meeting starts at 7:25 PM PDT
Qualifying Starts at 7:30 PM PDT
Green Flag drops at 7:45 PM PDT
Total Race time is Targeted at 1 hour
Spazcar is intended to be a fun, yet competitive, points based series. Ethically we promote many of the same general rules as the real Nascar league and the overall theme of the series is sportsmanship.
We all know that rubbin is racing, and you can expect that to happen in this series. So please be sure to bear that in mind if you find yourself on the receiving end of some hard fought racing. If it's not your style, then please take some time to honestly consider your participation. On the same token, it's not a demo derby and deliberate aggressiveness will not be tolerated. So think about your actions and their consequences out on the track and respect your fellow driver.
Points System
Currently utilizing similar points system as Nascar (except below noted bonus structure) so 43 points for 1st and 1 for 43rd.
Bonus points will be awarded as follows;
1 Point - Pole
1 Point - leading a lap (at the start finish line only),
1 Point - most laps led (when data available)
1 Point – Fastest Lap of the race as per Auto – Sim analyzer
2 Point – Best overall finish of race. (Most improved position based on starting position)
1 Point – Most outstanding instance of the event. It could be awarded for the craziest wreck, utter sportsmanship or hardest battle in the event.
RULES
General:
• Absolutely NO verbal assault or harassment of a driver. IF there is an incident that arises, it will be reviewed by the race officials. If deemed uncalled for, points will be docked & number of events suspension/probation will be applied. The penalty for second offenses is you will be asked to leave the league permanently. Period and no exceptions. You have one chance to keep your vocabulary in check. This is a fun league that is competitive. Not an uber serious series.
• Sportsmanship is a PRIORITY. While Oval track racing can provide intense close knit action, you are expected to be aware of your surroundings and respect your fellow driver to the best of your ability. It is understood that you are not driving a real car and there are limitations such as lack of G-Force, peripheral vision and a truly accurate spotter. However it is your job to let the driver you are competing against know where you are on the track in relation to them and if you are making a pass. On the flip side of that it is your job to hold your line if a pass is in action and not block, squeeze or push the competing driver out of his line. Penalties will be awarded if a formal written complaint is lodged to spazcar@yahoo.com and you were found to be in violation of a rule.
• Participation IS expected in the series. Many of the series painters have taken a lot of their personal time to set you up with custom skins and organizing and holding the events takes some effort as well. Please notify race officials if you know you are not going to attend an event or if you can only/desire to attend certain events. This helps us to know who to look out for at race time. There will be NO Weekend Event restarts. You must complete 50% of the events to be considered in the points chase. 75% participation required for the Chase for the Cup.
• LAG issues. We all know it’s not a perfect world on the interwebs. If you are lagging excessively (to be confirmed by at least 2 race officials at the time of the issue), you will be asked to move to the back of the field until it sorts out or for the remainder of the event. This is a mandatory requirement of any and all drivers affected by lag. Event is considered completed 1 lap after half way point. In the event of a race not being completed at least half way, it will be classified as a "rainout" and NOT rescheduled.
• You MUST run and utilize the RF Scan anti cheat software. Failure to load and send scan log within 20 minutes of the completion of the event will result in all points accrued for the event scratched and you will start at the back of the field for the next event. If you knowingly logged on without using it and are running the event without closing out the game and restarting it, you will be asked to park your car in the garage and not participate in anything after practice. No exceptions.
• You must be willing to have fun. That is the main requirement and what Spazcar strives to provide.
Driving
• Absolutely NO blocking, you are welcome to hold your line low on the track to protect your position, but you may NOT deviate from it to prevent a pass by another opponent. This also applies if you come into a corner and slide up, you’ve now opened an opportunity for a pass. You’re up high; you are now committed to hold that line until you exit the corner if challenged. It is also the passing driver’s responsibility to keep their car in the chosen line when making the pass. It is your responsibility to be honest and “clear” the passing driver by announcing to that driver that they are clear.
• No Charging, you will not drive the car hard into the corner and anticipate using the driver on the outside of you as a rolling wall. Repeated use of this tactic will start with point deductions, to eventual league banishment.
• Bumping, using the bump draft is encouraged where applicable. However not in the corners unless the driver you are working with is comfortable and requests/acknowledges it. This is oval racing, and the goal is to be close to the guy in front of you. However continuous use of the “bump and run” is frowned upon and can lead to penalties being assessed after review. Formal complaints for such an incident can be lodged to spazcar@yahoo.com 24 hours after the event to allow a cool down and re-evaluation period.
• Starts/Restarts, it is the policy of Spazcar that all positions are held in formation until crossing the start finish line. This is implemented to prevent someone timing the flag, hanging back on the field or trying to take some sort of advantage. This is in effect to balance out ping rates, system speeds and create a fair shake on the restart. Mistakes happen, gears are missed or tires are spun. Those are driver control issues and if occur the above statement does do not apply. Meaning, if a driver misses a shift/spins tires you can continue to accelerate, pass safely on right and not stack up the field before the line. But intentional passing before line is not tolerated and severe penalties will be assigned.
• Cautions, the pack is FROZEN when the flag flies, no need to race back to the line. New for this season is the rule that if you cause a caution, you are to go to the back of the pack. No exceptions. Cautions may occur due to competitive racing and may be deemed a racing deal. It will be evaluated on the fly. But if it is blatant, then the above rule applies. Drivers that are involved in an incident are to fall back in line where they can. Do not worry about where the game says you are supposed to be on the grid, it will be resolved once the green flies.
• In game penalties, while Spazcar now does have the ability to clear penalties on the fly, that will be used for grid errors only. Speeding on pit road will not be cleared and if busted, you will have to serve your penalty.
• Respect your fellow competitor. Enjoy the racing for what it is. Action packed bumper to bumper, door to door racing. Just don’t be aggressive ass and take people out. Race your fellow competitor with respect.
Protests, are to be filled at spazcar@yahoo.com Protests are subject to a refundable (if desired) $10.00 filing fee. It is to be paid through PayPal.Action will begin once fee is received. You will be given the PAYPAL PAYMENT information in your acknowledgement of protest letter. If your protest is legitimate and warranted and you were correct in filing it, your fee will be refunded if desired. If it is filed out of displeasure or just a bad race and wasn't warranted or just, your fee will be applied to the Spazcar promotional fund. The fee is assigned to prevent casual careless protests only, a 24 hour cool down and re-evaluation period is recommended before filing. All decisions on a protest will be handled by un-involved race officials and maybe be requested to be reviewed by an outside source such as Gone Broke Racing for example. All decisions are final. Penalties will be determined based on severity of protest.
"Open Mics" may be asked to switch to keyboard prompt on teamspeak as this series has a very active spotter and it can get to be distracting to other drivers. If you are asked to turn down you mic or switch to "push to talk" you are expected to do so without argument.
Chase for the Cup - After 20 "regular season" races, the top 6 drivers, as determined by points accumulated during the season, automatically advance to contend for the Cup championship. These drivers are joined by two "wild card" qualifiers, specifically the two drivers ranked from 7th through 20th in drivers' points who have the most regular-season attendance. If more then 2 drivers achieve this, the wild card will be determined by wins or top 5's. All points are reset to zero. Each of the 6 automatic qualifiers receives a bonus of 1 points for each win during the regular season, while the two wild card qualifiers receive no bonus. Normal scoring applies during the Chase, with race winners earning normal base points plus normal bonus points. Previous division champions ( not including Home Town) receive 1 bonus point for each division championship earned. The driver with the highest point total at the conclusion of the 16-race Chase is the Spazcar Cup champion.Good Luck!

Come Join the Fun
This series is aimed to be a fun competitive alternative to other great series out there. It won't be all about ovals as there will be road courses as well, so as to offer a little bit of everything for everyone. Our seasons will vary in length depending on the series, but will always rotate through IROCS, Trucks, Nationwide and the Cup cars that will mimic the full real life schedule. In between the above mentioned series, Spazcar will run a “Home Town Series” based on local short track action you might find down the road from your very own home.
Spazcar will also be open to anyone, as it always has. As long as you can adhere to the rules and bring fun and engaging racing to the track, you will more than welcomed to join.
