Because you all are road purists, this will be a standing start.

I have heard from several guys that there is interest in running the Lotus 49. Our next available Sunday is August 18 at our normal time. Does that work for you guys? If so, what track should we run? Zolder? Zandvoort? Mosport? all three tracks are fantastic! so I can't be a lot of help there lol is the Lotus 49 about to be released then ?

Please not Zolder. Zandvoort would be ok without the chicane. Some other good ones would be Spa, Road Atlanta, or Road America. Remember, this car is fast in a straight line, but has no aero and doesn't like corners. Actually the best place for it would probably be the Bonneville Salt Flats, but I don't think iRacing is even considering putting that in the game.

Watkins Glen and Mosport are both (almost) period correct for these cars. Zandvoort is a bit different than in '67 and maybe a little too twisty.

A lot of trees grew in the past 15 years And now I am wondering what the "inappropriate GIF" is.

A lot of trees grew in the past 15 years And now I am wondering what the "inappropriate GIF" is. It's a dude popping a boner. This is a mature site and so as far as I am concerned, he can post whatever he wants to describe his warped, sick, weird, perverted response to the release of a virtual classic car.

We will go with Mosport, but we need to do the event on Sunday, September 1. Zed needs August 18 so we can run an rFactor 2 server test event.

I ran some laps with this last night. Fun car... IMO it's pretty true to the GPL version though there are differences of course with better physics, tire and track models at play. People are going to want to practice though before racing. At first you'll need to learn how to baby this thing around the track... then you gotta figire out how to drive it on the limit

I was able to get comfortable enough with the car last night to gain enough confidence to do a race. The biggest issue is throttle control. This car gets twitchy at full throttle. I also found that I had to break earlier for the turns than most, if not all, other cars I have run at Mosport. Overall, the car feels amazing. It is not as easy to spin during the turns as I thought it would be, perhaps because we are not driving on racing slicks? I found that I was able to control the car quite well during skids and even when I went off track a couple of times during my race. They nailed the FFB and physics, I can feel what the car is doing at all times via my CSW wheel.

Here's the thing with this car, it seems. The sense of speed is way off. Go into a corner at what you think is a good speed and you're dead. It's not until you look at the speed display you realize you're trying to do 150 km/h in a corner with hard tires and no aero.
Oh yeah... you need to lift at 1 or 2 places on Andretti Straight or you're going for a very fast ride through the grass.
