Winton terrain.tdf mismatch

Something came up in todays race that may or may not impact the Wednesday race but for anyone running 1255g you will have this problem.
For any track that doesn't have its own tdf file it loads the default tdf file in the root location folder. Winton doesn't have one so it loads the default. The default from 1255f has a date of 2006. 1255g has a 2012 so it will display a mismatch and boot you from the server.

So a link to the tdf file on the server would be helpful.

If you are getting a terrain.tdf mismatch when joining the V8 server then you need to try one of two things:

1) Delete the HAT file for this track (or delete all HAT files) located in UserData\LOG\HAT\*.hat. HAT files are texture caches, deletion makes rFactor rebuild the cache.


2) Try this file:

dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25238931/terrain.tdf

It goes in the locations folder that holds your GBR track folder. Terrain.tdf is a default track file that some tracks use. It seems that ISI changed this file for 1.255g (the rFactor release that modified the online activation code). For some strange reason they also modified terrain.tdf (the MD5 checksums are different) so to race with us you'll need the file linked above which is from 1.225c and 1.225f

Even after doing this, I can't get in. I don't see any error, just no options. I've deleted all hat files and copied in the terrain file. I also tried running it out of the mod folder with the terrain.tdf file and the same thing happens....

I see the error on the Intermediate Tire server. What happens when you connect to the other?

Are you sure you're clearing the HAT files from the correct mod?

When I connected to the intermediate server, it looked like I was in someone else's car and my name never showed up in the list and I had no control. When I connected to the soft server, no one else was in there and it loaded in but I couldn't see my name or my car and I had no Race button. The chat window didn't show any error. I messed around with it for a while last night but finally gave up. I'm sure I'm in the correct mod.

This is exactly what I've been getting lately to a tee

Then if I fluke getting in I last 10min average now

Hm. Can both of you try again later today? I've turned one of the servers off and restarted the other. Maybe it's a quirk of running two servers at once though I can't explain why many others have been using the servers for the past week and a half w/o issue.

I just did a complete fresh install on a laptop here at work. Shhh... I was able to connect with no issues. I'm going to copy this install and load it up at home tonight and give it a try there.

It might well be that two tracks using that TDF at the same time causes conflicts if there are drivers on both servers at the same time. I've shut down one server so... Smokey, can you try now without making any changes to your install and also confirm you're not in spectate mode.

That sounds exactly like your in spectator mode.

Now that you mention it, you're right... that's exactly the same.

Also I just remembered that when I logged into the server last night there were drivers on both so it's not a problem with one server locking the files that another server needs.

Just done it then F1 I checked my rF settings & spectator mode was OFF and inter track showed up straight away on list the last week plus ive had to refresh it a million times before either V8 server showed up then both at same time not one or the other but all rest of (GBR) servers always there on refreshes. but I got straight in then F1 ill jump on & see if it lasts better than 10min too

(you wouldn't believe how often ive uninstalled & reinstalled my Ethernet drivers because of this LOL)

Once you get in, bookmark the server then as long as I don't change the server address you can forget about looking in the server list for the primary V8 server.
