Spa Francorchamps by KRG-Can, on Flickr DATE: August 18th, 2013 TIME: 9:30am PDT TRACK: Road America TRACK LINK: Spa (1988) IMPORTANT: NEW TRACK DOWNLOADF1_1988_C4QUALIFICATION: Qualification is determined by lap times during the practice prior to event start on race day. FLAGS: Black Flags Only. Blue Flags will show but no penalty will be issued. RACE LENGTH: 2.0 Hours PIT: One mandatory pit stop requiring all four tires changed is required. PIT SPEED: TBD MPH FUEL: x2 TIRES: Normal wear | Drivers choice for compound DAMAGE%: 50% SPECIAL CONDITIONS:This is a time scaled 20 hour race and will require headlights so drivers need to have buttons mapped on their controls for headlights. P2 cars can overheat on some tracks while in pit row during extended pit stops(repairing damage, etc). It is HIGHLY recommended that buttons be mapped for both Starter and Ignition so P2 cars can be switched off while in pit row. Ensure you are in 1st Gear with the Pit Limiter ON before entering the pits. Chicane: 2 (two) tires must remain on the racing surface (track) when running the chicane. If you "cut" the chicane and gain position, time or both, please be a gentleman racer and give the spot back. Stewards have the right to review the race footage and assign penalties as required. Setups/Tuning: Open Server will be live on: August 11th, 2013

Attendance Caveat
If we have less than 10 racers for this event, I will change the format of this event to be a 45 minute event with no mandatory pitstop.
The race WILL be time scaled to x15 meaning we'll get 11 1/4 hours worth of rFactor time. The virtual race start time will be 6pm which means we'll finish at 5:15am and headlights will still be a requirement.
I would love to see a good turnout for the event so please spread the word as you are racing the other series this week.
Server is up now.

I really want to run this race, but unless I can figure out how to do more than 1 lap without spinning, I may not. Any ideas as to why the car wants to go sideways so easily? It's not even necessarily under braking or acceleration, even coasting with some slight wheel movement can result in a slide.

You need to adjust the Coast and power options for the Dif. And even after that, watch where you downshift while breaking.
Also, Tony runs the same car, and normally has a stable tune.

Aston is pretty much the same as the Vette. Set Preload to about 3, set Power to 40-50%, Set Coast to 60-70% and see how that plays out. You can adjust up or down depending on your comfort level.
Cheers!

Wife is at it again, I don't think I'll be in this one either. What can I say, I get to race all week long, Giving her the option of doing something on Sunday is a small price I guess.

Wow, just tried running this track at night, and there are major portions of the track I couldn't see, including the bus stop chicane, which I slowed for, but couldn't see where the corner was. And yes, I downloaded the track from the link in the OP, and successfully connected to the server. Am I missing something?
Also, I think the problem I'm having with spinning comes down to 3 things. Number 1 is I don't know the track well enough, and try to take some corners too fast. Number 2 is I can't tune for shit (don't even really know what some of the things do/have forgotten in the time I was away). And Number 3, it seems like with this mod once you feel the car is gone, it's too late to correct. For me, the Blancpain mod is so much easier to control.

I am addressing that right now with a slightly different version of the track. I apologize I missed the lighting issue as my brain was just skipping over it.
I've just packaged up another version (most should already have it). I'll update the DL link in a few minutes.

Ah, I couldn't find the server about 1/2 hour ago... maybe because you're changing tracks...

Server was up, I just shut it down and restarted it now.
Ok folks, new version of Spa has been loaded on the server and the d/l link has been updated in the OP.
Apologies to those folks (Knight for sure) that are download caps as I know an unexpected d/l impacts you. Its 21MB total so hopefully not that big of a hit.
Unpack the .rar file to your GameData/Locations folder and you should be golden.
Again, apologies for the last minute switch but I've tested this version at 11pm, 12am, 1am, 2am and 3am time points and headlights are good throughout the track.
Cheers!
