Wife just left to go get it. I'm shaking with anticipation. I feel like a kid at Christmas. Being injured and stuck at home sucks but then it also has some advantages...  Yes, that is an advantage  , but I would much rather be healthy and working. Got it at last. I ate my lunch while the install disk was loading onto the HDD. Just started the games and went to the first save opportunity. Plays like any other GTA game so far. When I traded all those games and consoles in at Gamestop a while back, I upgraded to the Collector's edition.  |

Cool. I was headed out for my morning coffee and figured I'd swing by the mall to grab a copy and see what the hype was about. Nope, not gonna happen... the line was out the door. I suppose that says ssomething about the popularity of GTA. When I get Bioshock releases on the first day there's usually a 1-2 person line at the counter.
I'll check another retailer tonight (I have a gift card to use there) on my way home and if they're sold out I think I'll just order off Amazon.

Bah, my favourite retailer bundled GTA V with a free 16 GB flash drive. I need a flash drive, right? Ordered. |

I played all afternoon. Typical GTA, still a ton of fun. I managed to get into the airport and steal a small jet. The cops were shooting though and by the time I got in the air, one of the engines was already smoking. Didn't get far until both engines went out. I was able to land safely on the road. I haven't got to Trevor yet, just played Michael and Franklin so far. It's cool how you can switch characters at will. I really like that new feature. If you go into the strip club, make sure your wife and kids aren't around. The private dances are fully topless now. Don't know how that got passed the ESRB, I'm sure it will be big news soon. |

I hesitated due to the media mentioning a specific (not sure if it's a spoiler to anyone) scene that can't be skipped. I'm a little squeamish on that topic so I'll be interested to hear your (Troy) thoughts as to if that scene is all that bad. In the end it's just a game so I'll deal with it.

Technically w/ a rating M, they are covered. Retailers "shouldn't" be selling the game to those under 18. Whether or not they enforce it is another matter.  I suspect I'll end up picking it up at some point. Usually good for a few hours of fun. Just need to decide the system. |

ya GTA V is the first R18+ game sold in Australia under our new 18+ game laws & its the first GTA not edited to M15+ for here

I haven't played that mission yet, but I think I know which one you are referring to. I believe it is the one with a torture scene which you can't bypass. Ok, so we have a game where you can pick up a hooker, decide to get either a hand job, blow job, or her on top, after which you can pay her, then beat her up or kill her to get your money back. You can also go into a strip club and get a private dance with 2 completely topless strippers who put their hands all over each other and rub on your character. You can run or drive around in the streets or anywhere killing every living creature you come in contact with. But some media have a problem with a little torture? Come on people, this is a violent and graphic game for adults. If you don't like hard core raunchy graphic violence, you probably should pass on GTA V. |

Ya. It was the low-hanging fruit for the media. No matter what GTA V contained I'm sure the media would've found something in the game to generate reads.

I was reading $292 million dollars to make & market for GTA V Yeah, but I thought someone else mentioned that they are expecting to sell 15-20 million copies of the game. If that is correct, they are looking at grossing more than $1 billion, and that of course doesn't take into account the inevitable DLC that will be offered and gobbled up. $800 mill+ in 1 day....... |
