Congrats John on another win. Sorry to see Nick have to drop out and Hawks disco was a a huge bummer. Like Dale I really had no pace here probably because my only practice was the night before and race night. Qualy went about as I suspected and started 12th ( 13th) I got a good start and was in a large pack of cars, now in 11th place when we came out of the last turn to start lap 2. We were 3 wide coming down the straight and I was tucked onto the bumper of the car in front of me trying to clear the crowd going into turn one. I got tapped in the braking zone which sent me off to the right onto the grass and then into the sandtrap. By the time I inched my way back onto the track I was in 23rd position. From there the rest of the race was just pounding out laps and picking up positions when I could. I went with softs for the whole race and pitted on lap 18 with some right front tire left and the next stop was at lap 38 with no right front tire, one red square! Considering my lack of practice and the time spent in the sandtrap I'll take my 7th place finish and move on to the mountain. Lack of practice will not be an issue for the next race, I've already logged a bunch of laps practicing for the 50 lap Efnet race on Sunday then more practice with V8's for the 40 lap GBR race in 2 weeks, I think I'll know every inch of the track by race night.

Great racing guys and congrats to John for his 3 consecutive win and the other podium finishers. I would like to apologize to smokey and Hawks for scaring the crap out of them on turns 6,7 and 8. Glad I didn't hit anybody, I would have felt really bad if I had taken out anybody in that mess. I had a pretty good race. I did a lot of prep for working out my strategy and going softs, inters, softs seemed to work best for me. It sucks that Nick and to leave early and Hawks had a disconnect but that being said, thanks for the extra 2 positions guys! I am looking forward to my first race at the infamous Bathurst.
I'm so excited...I'm so scared!

Congrats to our podium finishers - with Nick out John just ran away with it. I had very little practice but raced this track a lot back in the old ToCA days. Brought back memories, love the place. Couldn't pop a 7 in qually but did a few in stint 1 of the race. Got caught up in the 1st lap mess up, I hit I think Armando damaging the front and Pavel got back. I think it affected my straight away speed since later in the race Armando was passing by like I was on stilts. Anyway - great racing with a bunch of you. Brian Potvin - drove the wheels off her next to me. Nice run there and I have to admit, in the last 5 or 8 laps, I had one hell of battle with Chris. Just couldn't shake him up. Nerves of steel there sir. Got one pass on you on the last lap but blew it and you got me back. Well done, loads of fun. Cheers fellas.

Not the night i was hoping for. i had a great car. that could have raced into the top 10. i got caught up in a big pile up. t boned a car in turn one crushed the front clip up. a few laps later. got caught up with a car in a bad passing zone. tore up the rest of the car. lost a lap getting to pit road. and drove out the rest of the race collecting points.

I seemed to click ok w/ this track last night. I knew I was running a very different pit strategy than most (if not all) of the field. So I tried my best to run my own race and not get too caught up in battles w/ people. Cocked up the first lap at the end of the backstraight. I was so far up under Sweeney's tail I couldn't see my brake/turn-in references. Did ok on the brakes, but completely missed my turn-in and went for a ride while the car slid right off the track and into the wall (glancing blow).....and back onto the track. From there things settled in as I found my groove, running steady high 9s to mid 10s. Moved up the order into the top 5 while everyone made their pitstops. Gradually slid down the order to 7th or so as the soft tire cars caught & passed me. Pitted on lap 28 for another set of Inters and resumed for the run to the finish. The last handful of laps were intense. I don't know how Sweeney & I managed to not trade paint. When he made the pass at T1/2/3 on the final lap it took every bit of restraint to not overdrive the car immediately. I caught a break when Sweeney exited T4 onto the backstraight a little wide, and got crossed up on the curbing. I was able to get my car pinched down and get enough traction (it was fighting) to get back around and barely hold him off at the finish. Brilliant finish Sweeney! It was a good points night, put a couple more points between Sweeney and took a whack out of the gap up to Hawks.

I first have to say a HUGE applogie to Tony for getting you spun. I though you backed out when I was alongside, panic set in and missed my early braking to keep the car tight to the curb. Slid wide and then I saw the nose of your car in my R/F door. Looked in the mirror and saw you spunning so again my deepest appologies. I tried on TS but someone reminded me you were not on TS. After that my race was uneventful. I was bettering in the first race since I rae 2 laps uneventful and in the 2nd race lap 1 I was almost killed 3X and finally went off in T1 and went from 3rd to 16th in about 10 seconds and spent the rest of the race playing catch up. Not the best night but not the worst either. See everyone at the next race !!!

Race went bad for me at the very beginning. Turn 1 of just the second lap I got sent into the wall and rebounded dead center of the the T1 sandtrap. Took me a couple of minutes just to get out of there. Had to pit with engine overheating and smoking just from trying to get out of the sandtrap. With my new "aero-package" aka dents, I had to relearn the car's handling so that slowed me up for a lap. After that I pretty much just raced alone with a few laps of action here and there. I messed up on fuel strategy and pitted not realizing that the race would be over the very next lap. Could have snatched a position had I known. Oh well. Hopefully I can get better luck next race.

Really happy to get the win last night, though it wasn't quite as satisfying as outrunning Nick at Winton. Got a better start than him off the line but he was able to draft and tuck back inside for Turn 1. Then I screwed up and blew my braking point into Turn 8 and knocked him into a spin. Really, really happy he was able to recover quickly and maintain 3rd spot, and I backed off slightly to let him catch up as safely as I could, let him back by a few laps later. Didn't want to win that way. Didn't want to win by having him leave either, unfortunately. I think I was definitely settling in to finish 2nd, though. I had a good Hail Mary lap there in Qualifying, beating my PB by a half a second, but I couldn't maintain the kind of pace he could in race trim, AND it looked like our tire wear was identical. So I was preparing to try going Intermediates on my second stint and going all the way, to maybe leapfrog him. Then he quit, and suddenly it was a race to stay ahead of Jeff instead, a classic F1-style tire battle... We both went with a 3-stop strategy on Softs but he was able to make his last 2 laps longer than mine--which meant the advantage was his, since our pace was equal. Basically, I started out with a 10 second lead, and with each tire stint, he'd cut it down by 2-2.5 seconds. So by the time we both hit our last pit stop, my lead was only 4 seconds or so, and by the END of that stint, he was still running quick laps and I was driving around on grease. The finish was nail-biting, it was 32 degrees in my office, sweating like a pig, and dealing with NON-STOP traffic, some of which let me go, some of which were a bit difficult, and a couple who inexplicably raced me hard, and all the while Jeff would chop half a second off lap after lap, until he as within a second. Two laps to go, I get held up at Turn 6 by lapped cars, he closes, only for him to hit the same lapped car and spin him at Turn 9, gaining me half a second! Last lap, my tires are GONE, sector 1 and 2 aren't bad but then I completely blow Turn 7, fly off into the grass, and to prevent a penalty I backed out of it, and Hooper gets right up on the bumper. But I got a good enough exit out of the final turn that was able to just hang on by the skin of my teeth. Other than my stupid off, it's about as perfect a tire strategy battle as you could ask for. Congrats to Chris on his top 5 and Pavel on his 9th place, too! As for Bathurst... I guess we'll see. I've always been fast there, and I adore the track... But it ALWAYS bites me in the ass. I think in all of ESR's races there I have one podium, and a raft of DNFs. So we'll see.

Weird part about my disco is that I had a good ping the whole time, never saw any lag and I never lost connection except to the rFactor server (I was on TS the whole time). I always check my connection speed before a race and I was getting a solid 40 mbps down and 20 up. Oh well, the mystery of the interwebs I guess. This has been a tough season for me. I'll just keep pluggin away and hopefully some luck will come my way.

Woohoo! Not that I'll hold it for long. Hmmm, I'm actually doing better this season than I was anticipating. I may actually have to man up and start practicing a bit to try to finish out the season strong.....especially heading into enduro season.
