I downloaded GSC 2013 on Friday. It costs $25. It is stand alone, not an update to GSC 2012. It uses the aging rFactor engine.
GSC 2013 is superb. Whether it be the Minis, or the Formula Retro, or the Brazilian stock cars, these cars look, sound and feel amazing. This has to be the absolute best possible use of the aging rFactor engine. The FFB and physics are simply awesome. You can definitely feel what the car is doing via your wheel and pedals. The tracks similarly look awesome, although admittedly, I do not know most of them. The AI is credible. I have them set on 80, with 20 damage multiplier and it makes for some excellent racing.
Any sim racer should buy this title. This is an excellent example of why the PC is where any serious sim racer belongs. You simply do not get this kind of quality sim racing on a console.

I have GSC 2012, but questioned if there is really any difference for the 2013. I know they added day to night transition and lighting to the tracks, but are the physics any different?

Yeah pretty much my thoughts, I have that many sims sitting on my hard drive unused I suspect this would just be another one. Reviews on Youtube do rate it though...

Lets just put it this way, I cannot tell any real difference between GSC 2013 FFB and physics and rFactor 2. Essentially what they have done is take the rFactor engine and work it enough to get rFactor 2 like performance out of it. And yes, the graphics seem slightly better as well. I also note that it has more content than GSC 2012, including the Formula Classic, Formula Retro, Camaro and Stock Cars, as well as some historic iterations of tracks, including Interlagos. If I recall correctly, GSC 2012 did not have any of this. I bought the game because the guys in the iRacing forums were raving about it.

One other thing I will mention. I had some stuttering when I first installed and played GSC 2013, even though I had high FPS. I Googled the issue and one piece of advice was to enable vsync in the Nvidia driver. I did that and it solved the problem.
There is something about the rFactor engine and the newer Nvidia cards, such as my 4 GB 670.

I'd possibly be interested if there was better content or mods became available....I tried the gsc 12 and to me it was just a Brazilian rfactor.....it's becoming the new age Netkar with it's raving reviews Like others have said....I as well have wasted too much money on games collecting dust on my hdd. If more people were running it and a possible series became of that I might throw so cash at it but I got enough games with content I enjoy to keep me busy for a while

If someone can confirm the 2012 mods will work in 2013 I might purchase it.....being recycled mods from rfactor that most were not too pretty on the eyes have textures been update ? I saw a few ingame pics of there content online and it looked pretty decent

So i took the plunge and was actually quit surprised with it.....my wheel must be f'ed in rf2 cause you compared it to it but i thought GSC 2013 felt much better alot smoother in detail what i really like is how they have visually matched the ffb with car movement really helps with feel and the cars have grip Sound is much better than rf1 and is slightly a step ahead in the beauty category Only issue iam having is iam unable to select any other car than the v8? when i check the folders there all there......and if i can the get the touring car mod to work ill be a pig in shit As someone who really didnt like rfactor that much, this is an excellent update to an aging engine and would recomend it....also seems pretty easy to convert rf1 mods over from what ive read

There is a quirk to choosing cars when I added V8s to GSC12 I had to find it under another car like mini or something
