We're back to an intermediate 45 mite race at a venue that hasn't been used much at GBR, The Autodromo Internacional do Algare in Portimao, Portugal. It's a great track that doesn't get enough attention and should provide for an excellent race. Being the fifth round, this is the first round where participation points will be awarded. An unfamiliar track brought us an unfamiliar winner. Tony Harper would make a no-stop race strategy pay off and steals the win from sixth on the grid! Behind him Jeff Hooper couldn't make an early pit stop work and had to concede second to Angelo dos Santos in last few minutes of the race. The venue proved to be hugely challenging and enjoyable for most. Expect to see it again in future seasons! Thanks for coming out! ResultsStandings

You know me...I don't turn a lap until just before the race. Worked OK for the V8s last week.

I'll be there, what a spectacular track. Fast & flowing that rewards smooth and technical driving, no wonder the FIA GT guys love this track so much. See you all on track, I also hope we have a good turn out. I was able to run a practice race late last night, should be a blast.

Congratulations to Tony Harper for the brilliant victory this race! I dont know if he pitted for fuel or not...but surely he didnt stop for tires, and that is very difficult to make it work. In my mind was a possibility pit only for a splash of fuel, was a achievable, but I decided not to risk giving the situation of the Championship. That was exactly what Tony needed!
As for my race, was a pretty intense one. First stint leading Jeff and Caleb. I got a bit greedy defending against Jeff, and made a half spin, dropping to 3th. And started to chase down they both. Jeff made a early stop, leaving Caleb and me fighting for the lead. I overtook Caleb and decided to stop for fuel and tires a few laps later. I got back in 6th place, with Jeff some good 11secs ahead getting the guys that didnt took tires. It was the most fun part of the race racing the clock and the other guys, and when I achieved 3th the time remaining was 10 minutes, I saw that Tony was some 18secs ahead in the lead. At this point I realized that the Win was too distant. The only way was him stopping for a splash, which of course didnt happened. I focused in get Jeff, our battle was very fun. I got him in the dying moments, last lap...and went to finish 2nd about 5secs behind Tony, who controlled all very well.
Generally for this race the pack was much more close in terms of lap times, and that reflected in a better race overall.
I enjoyed!

I finally tuned out the feeling that I had skateboards under the rear wheels in low speed turns. It took a hour of work on Tuesday but I did it.
This was the first race I have done in these cars without spinning. It's a shame I didn't check the rules and assumed a stop was required. I pitted for gas but didn't change tires. A bit frustrating because I could've no-stopped this one and perhaps finished up a few places.
Oh well, 5th place and I have a car I can drive now. That's a good thing.

I didnt knew a stop is required... It is?! lol
I would have to stop anyway for this race because I was some 12 liters short for a non stopper.

I did not have enough pace to battle on track with you guys at the front so I had to go with plan B, lol. I really enjoyed the battle for 4th with Dale & David which became a battle for 3rd when Hooper pitted earliest. I think I maybe had a more consistent set up and conserving fuel & tires started to pay off when Dale & David started slippin & sliding enough to let me sneak by. The inherited the lead after the leaders pitted, I couldn't believe my luck at that point. Then I was able to build a gap even though I was short shifting. That gap really started coming down fast as the early leaders started to close in and I was easing it home for the win. The ultimate redemption after the track glitch problems at Spa See you all at COTA !!!!

This was my first time at this track and I really enjoyed it. Thanks for picking a track that doesn't get much race time.

when Dale & David started slippin & sliding enough to let me sneak by. That was when I realized I'd made a mistake with my pit strategy and was doing mental calculations and changing things in the pit menu. I was having a little trouble doing that and driving.
