Date: Sunday, February 9, 2014 Time: 6:50am PST (70 minute Warmup/Practice starts at 6:50am PST, Qualifying starts at 8:00am PST and a 40 minute race starts at 8:10am PST) Cars: Skip Barber (paid content) Track: Lime Rock (base content) Warm Up: 70 minutes Qualifying: 10 minutes, 4 laps Race: 40 minutes Tune: Open. Here is a set up I downloaded from the iRacing forums: Lime Rock.sto (3.59 KB) Keep in mind that we will have to start on time, since there is no way I can change the race start time once we are in the sim. You can be late for warm up and qualifying and can come and go as you please. There will be unlimited Fast Repairs, so no one is left completely in the dust due to a mistake. Because you all are road purists, this will be a standing start. I have restricted fuel to 70% of max, which should force a pit stop or two. Thanks!

Yep, restrict fuel to force a pit stop is my vote.
Cheers!

I vote for the pit stop. If you restrict the fuel to 2 gallons, it will force one pit stop.

Either way, no preference.

Pit. Anyone ever practice for this? I've got my times down a bit but I'm still just over a minute. I need the practice but it gets boring. I'm loving iRacing, though.
I almost picked up a track but then I thought, I better wait.

That being said, if enough guys want to arrange a practice session, I can schedule a hosted session. The GBR iRacing fund is pretty flush with credits right now. Snappy, you need to buy the Corvette and Road America for next Sunday morning's GBR iRacing GT series race.

Oh, we have to pay to practice together. Sorry, I'm used to the console stuff. LOL
Corvette?! I can barely drive the Skippy or that Rookie MX-5. I'm staying away from the powerful stuff until I get a lot better.

You know, I'm thinking... How long before iRacing is offered on a next gen console? I bet it's in the works. Just a thought.

Snappy, they added the NTM to the Corvette and thus it is much easier to drive than you might be thinking. Yes, if you want to be as fast as our aliens, Troy and Kelly, you will need a lot more practice. But, to be competitive with the rest of us, you will be just fine.
There have been murmurings about iRacing on next gen consoles, but nothing is going to happen soon. Even if it does come to Xbox One or PS4, the experience will be inferior, primarily because gaming PCs are generally ahead of the next gen consoles in terms of power, particularly with the GPU, but also because gaming PCs support are much wider range of wheels, pedals and shifters and they allow triple screen resolutions.
Don't get me wrong, I am loving my sim racing on PS3 (GT6) and Xbox One (Forza 5) right now, but the PC is still where to find the best sim racing. In my situation, that best sim racing is iRacing, hands down. For others, its rFactor or rFactor 2 or Assetto Corsa or Project CARS.

I would be surprised to see iRacing on consoles unless they've got a Skunk Works team on it. iRacing contains a lot of legacy coding methodology that would need to be dealt with first. For example, shadows are rendered on the CPU and the GPU where it should be done is often running with 25% or more idle time. So if they haven't optimized the code for the platform they are based on now, can iR be expected to be create console-optimized code?

While iRacing offers a great platform it does get expensive. The only way to run practice with others (for free) is to jump on the track for the official series for the week.

To add to Craig's comments on wheel comparability on consoles, let's not forget other accessories like button boxes, hardware displays, etc. If they went to consoles rookie class would be even more of a cluster-f lol

Yeah, keep it on PC. Anyway, I'm really liking it. I'll keep practicing but as if right now I only qualify for the MX-5 road events so I'll have to jump in and get my rating up.

Focus on SR, don't worry about winning. There will be plenty of time for that later.
