Date: Sunday, February 23, 2013 Time: 6:50am PST (70 minute Warmup/Practice starts at 6:50am PST, Qualifying starts at 8:00am PST and a 35 minute race starts at 8:15am PST) Car: Corvette (paid content) Track: Watkins Glen Classic Boot (paid content that every iRacer on the planet should buy Warm Up: 70 minutes Qualifying: 15 minutes, 4 laps Race: 35 minutes Tune: Open. Here are the qualifying and race tunes that Troy originally prepared, with some follow up "assistance" from our friend Dave (aka, kurupt) GBR Watkins Qual Kurupted.sto (1.38 KB) GBR Watkins 40 min Race Kurupted.sto (1.38 KB) Keep in mind that we will have to start on time, since there is no way I can change the race start time once we are in the sim. You can be late for warm up and qualifying and can come and go as you please. There will be unlimited Fast Repairs, so no one is left completely in the dust due to a mistake. Because you all are road purists, this will be a standing start. Also, we will use iRacing chat from now on for this and all over GBR iRacing events. Make sure you map a push to talk key before you jump on the track.

The Corvette has the new tire model and a bunch of other changes which make all old setups fail tech.
I have 2 new setups for Sundays race. They are both very similar, but the qual setup has less fuel and ride height adjusted to compensate for it.
Setups deleted, use the Kurupted setups in post below.
My best lap so far with the race setup is 1:43.981, I will post a video probably tomorrow to explain braking points and gear selection.

Good base setup jarhead ! It took me 2-3 laps to be on par with your time, I did find the car to push a lot mid corner causing a slow rotation. I bumped the rear rebound up 1 and dropped the coast ratio 1 and found I was able to get on the throttle much earlier saving me .500+ a lap. Still needs a few more tweaks as I only ran 5 laps. Hopefully I can make the race on sun

Hope to see you there Kurupt. These races are so much better than the official races. We all communicate and respect each other. I'm sure if you join one of our races, you will come back for more. Edit: WOW!!! Nice to have a tuner to help out. I'm not a tuner, I just find tunes on the forums. Kurupt, I made those 2 small changes you suggested and dropped 3 seconds off my previous best time. My new PB is now 1:40.898 about 12 laps into a run with the race setup. I can now run flat out through The Esses, before I had to lift slightly into the left hander. If you have any more suggestions to make it even faster, please let us know. I am reposting the setups here and deleting them from my earlier post. If you have the other setups I posted earlier, delete them and use these. GBR Watkins 40 min Race Kurupted.sto (1.38 KB) GBR Watkins Qual Kurupted.sto (1.38 KB)

Maybe I should have kept that tweak to myself so the rest of us have a chance lol But glad it made a big difference. I ran a couple laps this morning and was averaging 1.43s but still found something was off with mid corner rotation. I'll sit down tomorrow and give it a good run to see if we can improve it and report back. What iam thinking might help is drop the rear spring 1 or 2 clicks and lower the rear wing wicker 1 to .75 In theory the softer rear spring will add grip in the rear while the lower downforce will allow better rotation in high speed turns and a slight higher top speed on the straights but might need a tweak in the final gear?

I've tried messing with the springs and think softer springs might help also. Just be aware that when you change the springs, it affects a lot of other things as well like ride height, camber, and balance. So if you adjust the springs, check those things before and after to see what else changed. There is a good setup guide on the forum you might want to take a look at. You can find it here: members.iracing.com/jforum/posts/list/1817184.pageI hope we can continue working together and sharing setups. I don't like when a series is all about who is the best tuner. If we can all learn from each other, everyone will get faster. I finally made a video of my hotlap. Please let me know what you think. Here it is:

I modified the original post to include the tunes that Troy has prepared, with some help from Dave.
I also agree with Troy about sharing tunes. I do not want this series to be about who is the best tuner. If you want hardcore competitive series, where tunes are not openly shared, there are plenty of iRacing official series that cater to that. You also can look to the GBR V8 Supercars series, which is highly competitive.
kurupt is a great tuner and a fast racer. He will be very competitive even if he has to share his tune with us slow guys. LOL!

The wife has to teach a first aid class this weekend so I won't be able to race as I have to take care of the kids. I'll do my best to make coming races. As for tuning I really have no idea what iam doing in iracing it is more or less trial and error by feel without any ingame telemetry available Am I just late to the party or were you fanatec users aware there was a driver update released in late nov. V 1.77? Anyways the FFb is so much better than the beta v1.57 I had been running. I had pretty much given up on my wheel and excepted it was shit but this driver update has really brought it to life especially in iracing! hopefully it will solve some of the issues I was having in other titles and improve the feel.

Zero, you have the qualifying session set for 15 minutes. I don't think it needs to be that long. Laps are well under 2 minutes so one out lap and 4 qualifying laps should take less than 10 minutes. Any chance you could shorten the qual time and extend the race by 5 minutes?
Also, since there are no other races scheduled tomorrow, I would be willing to host a practice server if anyone is interested. I was thinking of making it 8:00pm EST to 12:00am EST/5:00pm PST to 9:00pm EST. I could adjust those times or add another 2 hours if needed. Please let me know if you are interested and what time would work for you.

The problem is that if you wreck on your out lap, and want to try again, that will add some time, since you need to complete an entire out lap before starting a lap that will actually count. I also want to give guys some time to go take a leak before the race starts.
