I came back to iRacing and was struggling with the physics. Couldn't drive the locked set up on the MX-5 cup car. Kept working at it. Ran a time trial and got my safety rating up to a 2.55. Then I decided, what the hell...why not run a race? I'm already starting from scratch so what's the worst that can happen. Joined a race at Lime Rock. I didn't qualify so I started 11th. Last in a small field. That was probably good because I was able to avoid some nonsense and work my way up. I was running in 5th position and slowly caught the 3rd and 4th place cars. They had a coming together that I was able to avoid so I ended up in 3rd. From then on I put on 10, or so, consistent laps and held on for my firs podium.
I did make contact with a lapper going into turn one. He lost it and went off track to the left then came back across the track, went off to the right then cam into the racing line. By then I had slowed so much that I was nearly stopped so there wasn't much more I could do.
Anyway, I'm liking iRacing a lot. At any time I can do TTs or jump in a race. That's convenient.

Congrats. Some of my best finishes in the MX-5 races were a result of being patient and picking off the crashers and spinners.

Nice, one of many to come eh?
That MX-5 I have found to be one hell of a steep learning curve just to get the thing round consistently. I have to drive the thing like a FWD with really delicate, smooth inputs.
