Better be qualifying good because passing is nearly impossible here. I'd recommend that people not completely familiar with this track run some practice laps and don't attempt a drop-in.

What twisted mothertrucker decided it would a good idea to race V8 Supercars at Monaco? I'm thinking of running with my pitlimiter on just so I won't crash.

It will actually be a blast. Passing will be very limited, so it's going to come down to qually (I'm SOL there) and waiting for the guy in front to make an error (which I'm usually pretty patient). If you have fun chasing the guy in front of you, you'll enjoy it.....once you get the track down.

This version is COMPLETELY different from any I've driven on. Gonna take a lot of practice. And I have to drive with the headlights on, or else I can't SEE half the track that's in shadow. I'm worried people with low end systems aren't going to be able to race. By myself in Practice I was only pulling 90 fps, and I've got a killer rig. A lot of us might have to turn some details waaaaaay down to make this work. Oh, and try your best not to touch the guardrails pretty much anywhere, I already found three spots you only barely have to touch, that immediately bring the car to a halt and do severe damage. But it's a street course, so I'm all for it.

But you can blame the other stewards as they signed off on it as well! I've always wanted to race Monaco with the V8's, but never had the nerve. Finally I decided to go for it. It will be the first time we've ever attempted it, and may end up being the last depending on how things go. Everyone will need to be sure to get in some practice in order to survive this one.

I always knew the stewards around here were a bunch of Jive Time Turkeys! I am already calling this race wreckfest 2014. I predict many F-bombs and other salty language throughout this race. Should be hilarious!

This version is COMPLETELY different from any I've driven on. Gonna take a lot of practice. And I have to drive with the headlights on, or else I can't SEE half the track that's in shadow. I think this is the last layout before they moved the pits to the other side. It's got the pit lane extended through St. Devote (T1) which is fairly modern. In case anyone is wondering, the pole on that corner is "soft" and I guarantee it'll be gone 10 sec after the race start. Some key things for survival: - the tunnel is not constant radius... there is a bend 3/5 of the way through, on inters you probably can't take the tunnel flat out - the chicane after the tunnel requires you to start slowing down as you exit the tunnel or earlier on intermediate tires - most of the corners here suck you in with a too fast entry speed, practice slow then increase your speed When we were picking tracks for this season, this was one of the ones that was picked to favour the technical drivers. Oran Park with walls. I've tested this track in Practice and Race and visibility is good. It's dimmer than others, probably to simulate the buildings shadows but track details are easily visible. Anyone struggling to see the track should review my monitor brightness tutorial: gbr.proboards.com/thread/204?page=1John is right about framerates. I see lower than normal framerates too... in the 100-120 range. City tracks have a lot more stuff to draw, it's normal. We see it at Long Beach too. Turn down shadows and special effects if needed. Especially special effects... if you're struggling for framerate here then tire smoke will kill you.

Be sure to stay to the right of the yellow line when exiting pits. The line extends from pit road exit to just after turn 1.
Those who are on a hot lap need to stay to the left of the orange cone at turn 1 and not cut across the yellow pit exit line.

Clarification for the curb near the pool. Are we using the curb or the wall as track edge? It sits in the middle of the road like T1, with no yellow curbs to the right, making for an easy cut and time gain. I was practicing w/ the curb last night, but can go either way on it. Just want to know so we are all on the same page.

I ran a few more laps late last night and started to get the hang of it, but it's going to be a whole different story with traffic.

That corner really should have a sausage curb like the pool exit has.
