I have to admit that I am very spoiled. Comcast is not applying caps right now, at least now where I live, and so I can download pretty much as much as I want.

Okay...Fingers crossed the file is a bit smaller and compressed. Cheers.

Came across this review today on YouTube....I found the review a bit odd and contradicting, in regards to a few comments Old gen technology for the graphics system as it will only be released on 360 and ps3....so will it look better on PC? Or is it gonna shift 2 quality? I guess if you run rf1 all the time it will look beautiful It's meant to be fun and not a serious racer returning to it's grid 1 roots but in the comments he says it's similar to f1 2013 which I thought felt like a bungee cord. All round a great game with a good career mode, but than says as a con the ai is not to smart and brakes early while the touring cars handling seems unrealistic and overly difficult to try to make non racers believe it's realistic lol So how does that make for a good career mode ? I was contemplating this due to the touring cars and as a fun racer with occasional online race, but for $50 I think I'll wait for one of your guys honest reviews if it's on the same level as forza I'll reconsider. I just get this impression from the tone of the reviewers that there making it better than it truly is simply because there fans of the original grid 1 and want to rejuvenate the series

This is not a full review of the game as I've only run the first seasons of the Street and Touring cars.
To me both cars handle really well once you turn off the TC, SC and ABS. They have plenty of grip, but not so much that you can drive them badly and still make your turn, they can and will get away from you.
Graphically it has better looking tracks then Forza5 in my opinion, but the cars are not quite as good. They look great, just a little flat in the shiny area.
It's challenging, but not over the top. Tuning when you can do it is simple sliders, but it dose make a difference in how the car feels.
I've never cared for how any of the Forza games handled with the exception of the first one. So this game feels way better to me.
As for the AI, I think it's great, they do everything possible to keep you from passing them, but once you get inside them about halfway up the door, they give you room. (In the street cars, The touring cars will let you in, but will squeeze you as much as they can with out wrecking.) They don't seem to have the problem of slamming into you all the time, but some are more aggressive then others. I've only ran on Easy and Medium settings, so no idea if they get stupid in the higher settings, but medium is giving me great racing, and I don't win every race.
In my opinion, they have went back to the feel of Grid1, witch was way better then Grid2, but with much improvement.
The cockpit view is bland as they have blurred the dash details, you can still see the dash, wheel and arms of the driver, but it's more like when you are concentrating on the road in your real car, everything else around you is in your periphery vision and a bit out of focus. So it's a good thing in my book, because your not looking at how pretty the dash is, your driving.
The mirrors don't really work, they are blurred also, but you can see a cars silhouette, and they give you arrows to indicate where the cars are.
At this point I am really enjoying this GAME, I think it could make for some seriously fun Multiplayers races, and would recommend it to anyone that wants to have fun while racing. But if your looking for a Sim type challenge, look elsewhere.
If I find anything else worth mentioning, I'll add it later.

OK, I just ran about 5 races and I must say that I am underwhelmed with this title so far. First, I cannot get my T500 dialed in. I tried 270, 360, 900 and 1080 degrees of rotation and nothing feels right. If I do 270 or 360, the car is too twitchy. If I do 900 or 1080, I have to turn the wheel way too much. I also am not getting good FFB when turning. I cannot feel the connection between the tires and the track. The physics are more realistic than GRID 2, but still too drift-like. Second, I keep configuring my H shifter, but when I exit out and re-enter the game, I have to re-configure. Whats up with that? Third, I am on the Easy skill level, and yet the AI is still too hard and aggressive. Fourth, the graphics are fine, but nothing to write home about, particularly if you regularly play next gen sims such as iRacing, rFactor 2, Forza 5, Project CARS and Assetto Corsa. And finally, the ISR guys say they like this better than GT6. With all due respect to those guys, they are high. This is not anywhere near as good as GT6, and is not on the same planet as the next gen sims. I am very disappointed right now. I will try again later. Maybe....

To be honest, I started playing with the controller. So I decided to hook up my T500rs and see if what Zero is talking about was the same for me.
I have to say, I like it better now with the wheel. I don't know what you've done to your wheel settings. But mine is set on all default settings except rotation, which I use 270. And it turns and feels great. I can feel the bumps, the curbs and even when my car wiggles a bit.
I tested Touring cars class C on Bathurst Reverse, and Super UTE's on Bathurst normal, and both cars handled great with my wheel. I do have the same issue with my shifter though.
And I actually came in second with the Touring car, and first with the UTE on Medium setting. Their has to be something up with your wheel settings bro.

OK, I may have spoken too quickly. I just played for another hour and I now have my T500 dialed in. I switched the DOR to 360 and that feels good. I also jacked up the vibration strength and wheel weight to 100. It feels right now. I am getting good FFB through the turns, and the curbs and off road effects are very strong. The cars are definitely drifty, but I am getting the hang of them.
The graphics are definitely good, Codemasters good.
I already like this much better than GRID 2.

I was talking to a few 204F guys last night and asked what they thought of it compared to forza and they gave a pretty decent comparison so since all the current pc games asides from iracing have empty servers and are more or less betas i went ahead and picked it up. First impression........Biggest piece of shit ever lol than i played with the settings and it brought it to life and iam quit enjoying it and can see it keeping me busy till pcars is released for the control settings i did the opposite to what you guys did and lowered them and i find you can feel the tires limit much better than with the heavy canned effects. Off the top of my head i believe these are my settings Wheel GT3 RS 360 ffb 100 SHO 100 Drift 1 Spring 1 everything else off ingame Vibration 40% Wheel strength 60% wheel weight 30% as for the game graphically i feel the tracks look compareable to RRE which i feel can only be beat by AC and PCars. Did you guys download the free Hi res content pack? Sounds not spectacular but decent silnilar to FM4 much better than gt6 leaf blower effects Handling i felt was similar to GT6 but with better road effects, once you get your ffb and wheel settings dialed in and learn to be smooth youll see your lap times improve quit alot. theres a limit you need to find before the car starts to plough and turns into a drift. Ai pretty good they have there moments but really what games ai doesnt. Biggest issue is they divebomb the apex if you give them any opening or try an inside move they will push you off. I started on med and it took 2 15 lap races to move up to hard. Unlike forza and most games they always seem to be in striking distance which is exciting Career mode is pretty fun thus far no cheesy 3 lap races which you can configure and run qualy if u choose MP looks to have clubs that you can signup and join with racenet Stats are tracked with a LB so you dont need to ask what an avg lap time is Tuning from what ive seen in the touring cars is pretty lame a forza style would have really enhanced things and drawn me in more. Dont believe theres any custom paints that iam aware of? If the lobbies can stay full I can see this game keeping me occupied for a while. Ive never tried a codie game just due to the reviews the last few titles got, but hopefully they will keep updating this and build from it going into there next title as iam pretty happy with what i got! for Knight I know your monthly limit is pretty low and not the fastest dl rate. someone said it was a 7.8gb dl when i dl from steam I got a 3 piece dl running close to 13gb 7.8 base + 4.8gb high res texture pack + a small update and took close to 1.5hrs with a 50mb rate

Oh! That is not so good...Have to wait to the end of my Data month and spread the download then. Sodding ridiculous limit in this day and age.

I guess I did not download the texture pack. I bought the game on Steam, why don't they just automatically download and install it for me? I hate hassling with shit like this, I just want to pay my money, download and install it and then play. That is partly why I do not play rFactor 1 anymore, the hassle was just not worth it.

From what I gathered it was a free dlc to update the resolution for 4k support so iam not even sure if it did anything for me as iam only running 5760x1080? But looks much better than any old gen console games I've played. Steam will have automatically installed the recent patch as long as you have the update option set to automatic. I look forward to some mp action later tonite and seeing how the clubs work and all the other features I was on there forum gathering info and looks like there will a patch shortly to update controller profile and settings menu

Okay 7 odd gigs so I went for it...
First I hated it, though the way it just picked up my triples and wheel etc was cool, I just got hammered by the AI on the first race...Okay I had set everything to pro, after all I thought I am a sim racer with hundreds of hours on track, that should see me at least mid pack...nope, the AI were all just gone. I shut down the game and thought well, that was 16 well spent.
Then I changed tack, thought to myself okay lets reduce the AI to medium, took a while to get the feel of things, it's no rF2 when it comes to FFB and road feel but after a time I started getting the feel of it, you can get away with stuff you just cant get away with in a sim, and that was the key, forget sim and drive like you stole it. This started to work for me, batter the AI out the way, dive into corners and suddenly I was heading up the pack, won the fourth race in the touring car series.
So as a game, yeah it works, not easy, in fact the difficulty is ridiculous until you lay your ego to rest and drop the AI difficulty. Looks, not bad. Not stellar but good enough. Sound is okay, with the race engineer passing on info, and I like that sort of thing.
So yeah, 16 quid well spent, there is some fun to be had, how long for I don't know, but for what I wanted out of it, some offline action and not too serious it seems to do the job.
