As someone who learned on the original PC TOCA game this is potentially good news. I think the market is getting a bit saturated and generally I find PC/console games to have annoyances (bad UI, limited triple screen support, dumbed down controls/FF) that a pure-PC game doesn't but I'll probably give it a try when it goes on sale. blog.codemasters.com/grid/04/introducing-grid-autosport/

Great, I need another racing game like I need a hole in the head. I am glad to see Codemasters returning to their TOCA roots. GRID 2 is a good game, but it is too arcadey for me. The lack of a cockpit camera is part of it, but I also find the FFB and physics to be too basic. The car selection, graphics and track selection are awesome and so hopefully Codemasters can build on that. Speaking of Codemasters, where the $#@@ is Dirt 4??? I so yearn for a modern rally game. All they have to do is take Dirt 3 graphics and combined it with Richard Burns Rally authenticity, FFB and physics and they will have a winner. Leave the arcadey stuff for Dirt Showdown 2.

I loved the TOCA series, and have been waiting for them to get their mojo back and give us another TOCA...I will look on from the sidelines as they have let me down consistently on that front. Again they are steering away from pure simulation, so I guess it's how far that will be the key for me.

IMO, only GT and Forza can appeal to both the hardcore and the casual crowd. PD and Turn 10 simply have the most money to work with, and so they can have games with both sim and arcade aspects. The rest need to decide what they are and focus on that. iRacing, rFactor 1 and 2, Assetto Corsa, etc. are hardcore sims. They do not seriously try to cater to the arcade racing fan. Codemasters needs to decide where it wants to target its games. TOCA was definitely more hardcore. I remember TOCA 3 being brutally hard. GRID, on the other hand, is much easier and arcade like. My hope is that with Grid Autosport that Codemasters really does return to its TOCA roots. I also hope they do the same with Dirt 4. Dirt 4 needs to be a modern day Colin McRae Rally/Richard Burns Rally game.

they released the touring car list today, not too shabby but still missing a few cars to replicate the rl series. Ill wait for the reviews after release to pass any further judgement, anything that might interest me in this game touring car wis I can get the full official content and tracks through rre so i doubt this would get much play time unless the physics are a step above, but some how doubt it will be www.racedepartment.com/grid-autosport-touring-car-list-unveiled/

It releases tomorrow, I can't wait, already have it preloaded. I'll finally be able to run Bathurst backwards. Plus I like a racing GAME that dose not make me think to much on occasion.
And cockpit view is back, not to much detail inside, but your supposed to be looking outside anyways, I just like the camera to be positioned there.

I also pre-loaded it Dan, I should be able to play it tonight after 9pm PST, when Steam usually releases pre-orders.
I am very excited to play it after watching the positive coverage from ISR and Team VVV. They seem really happy about the direction the GRID series is taking.

Do you remember how big the download was?

Do you remember how big the download was? I don't, but I do remember it taking less than 40 minutes to download with my 50 mb/s connection. Other games, such as Assassin's Creed 4, take much longer from Steam.
