I had a decent season for my first full season after the accident. My leg is doing much better and I can do the longer races now.
When the RUF came out I gave it a try and really liked it. It has become my favorite car for road racing. I ran 92 races in the GT3 Challenge series. I was in Division 4 where I finished 2nd of 764. For the overall championship, I finished 138th of 4285 who ran at least 1 race.
What the car reall did though was bring my road iRating way up. I started the season around 1700 and now it is 3569. Much higher than I ever thought it would be on the road side.
For the oval side, I stuck with what I know, the IndyCar. I got on a team last summer, so I get decent setups to run the open series now. My best finish for the season in a high SOF race was 2nd at Pocono and I even led a few laps in that race.
I also did some IndyCar fixed oval races on select weeks where I really liked the track or could do really well. I ran 38 races there and got 17 wins. Most were at Texas and Indianapolis.
Texas is all about qualifying if you want to win. It is really a terrible track for the Indy fixed series. The leader can run flat out holding the bottom line all the way around the track and is impossible to pass. I am very good at qualifying there and had the #1 qualifying time in the world that week. I ran 7 races starting on the pole and winning every one of them leading every lap. Very boring, but it helped my iRating.
I also found a good line at Indianapolis. I didn't have the fastest qualifying time, but I always started very close to the front. Passing is possible at Indianapolis though and makes for some very good racing. The weather was a little tricky which created a lot of wrecks though, mostly in turns 2 and 3. I ran 11 races and won 7 at Indianapolis.
My best achievement was in the IndyCar fixed time trial championship. It was a very close competition which came down to the last day of the season. I ended up winning the overall championship by 1 point. I won 6 of the weeks I raced which is the most I ever won in a single season. My wins were at Motegi, Texas, Richmond, Kentucky, Michigan, and Indianapolis. I ended up with 798 out of 800 possible points. 2nd place had 797. 3rd place had 776 so it was really only a fight with 2nd place. It is my first overall season win on iRacing.
