Spaz mentioned to me that Whitewolf uses a Wired xbox controller with his PC setup. THis got me thinking. I was able to install USB drivers from Microsoft for the xbox controller. However I am connecting it to the pc with the USB charge an play cable. Im at a loss now, I used the troubleshooting guide and it still thinks its synced to my xbox. I do not get a green light on the screen of the my living room tv. I do not have the xbox usb ir receiver that is made for PC setups. I was attempting to see if I could get this setup working without any other hardware. We shall see. Any ideas?

Yeah the wireless controller receiver works well. I used it once when traveling and didn't want to miss a race The only hitch is that I haven't found a way to separate the gas and brake triggers on their own axes. The wired controller may be different but check before you buy if that matters to you.

Not from personal use but from the thread over at 2O4F, some have said that they felt the wired controller have a longer throw on the triggers allowing for smoother operation. I think ChurchPro was saying this. If you're buying something anyway, you may be better off with a wired controller.

Wireds the way to go as far as controllers go, Plug and play. One thing, if it's a Microsoft compatible, such as Mad Cats etc.. It will not give you the best steering. Go for an Actual x-box controller. Way smoother operation.

Another thing to consider if you are using a controller is Kontrol Freeks. I have them on all my controllers. Works great for FPS and racing games.

Thanks for the info Jarhead.... I was just going for a long shot hoping that with what items I had would make it work.... Guess not. I will be looking at getting a wired controller as well.

What kind of headphone/mic hardware does everyone use to communicate with TeamSpeak? And with that said can you connect your mic/headseat thru the Wired MS Controller similar to the xbox, or will you need to connect to the PC with the headphone/mic cables?

Uses a standard Pc mic and headphone set all the way up to ellobrate stuff. If you got a set of ear buds/w mic kicking around from your cell phone with the right jack that will work too...not great mind but will work. it not like the xbox.

Just making sure that I have everything I need to get racing with rFactor. Like i mentioned before it seems like alot of information overload with alot of the info out there for setups/tweaks etc. But once its all configured its smooth sailing. Cant wait.

I use my Xbox Wireless Bluetooth headset as my gaming laptop supports it. Works really well as I don't need headphones in my house.
Cheers!
