I stumbled on this neat little trick today. Cut-and-pasted from somewhere:
Join a Server in seconds without having to refresh the list over and over again.
Make a copy your shortcut to rfactor on your desktop or create a new one by going into your rfactor directory, right clicking the executable / Send To / Desktop (Create Shortcut)
Once your shortcut is on your desktop, Right click on it and select Properties.
In the Target text field the is where you want to put the server information.
Mine looks like this (note I've obscured the server details and you can combine this with the two performance switches).
"E:\Program Files (x86)\rFactor V8\rFactor.exe" +fullproc +connect
xxxxx.yyyyyyyy.org:34297 +password "xxxx"
You can use IP or URL. I've provided both for my server (see the server forum). I recommend using the URL in case my IP address changes. The port address (34297) may change for different people's servers (especially Spaz who will run more than one server).
