Sportsman Series Explained

The Sportsman Series is an extension of the GBR V8SC Championship. The Sportsman series will run in
conjunction with the regular season and it caters to gentlemen racers and drivers that are currently
transitioning from amateur to professional level.

PRO:
No driving aides allowed except auto clutch.

SPORTSMAN:
Allowed to use up to medium TCS and/or high ABS and auto clutch.

Both classes of drivers will be racing together, but the Sportsman will be competing for a separate championship from the Pro drivers. At the end of the season, 2 champions will be crowned (Pro and Sportsman).

A driver who accumulates two or more overall victories OR three overall podiums during the season will be considered ineligible from further participation in the Sportsman series.

GBR Staff are the final authority when determining participation eligibility.

Sportsman cars will be identified with a yellow stripe under the rear wing and also yellow on the front splitter. This will help identify the classes when you are racing (and should be easy to spot).

Any idea when the list is coming out? I had to break down and buy another adapter for my triple screen set up. Hated that. So I'm back in business.

Marvin, I would say you are probably on the cusp of going either way. Take a look through the entrant list so far and see who you have usually been racing alongside. Unless Hawks dictates you too one camp or the other (his series, so he overrides whatever I say ), I would leave the decision to you. Jimmy had the option of going Pro or Sportsman, and opted to go Pro. Just keep in mind, if you are too successful (ie: leaving all the other Sportsmen in the dust on a regular basis) we may ask you to move up.

So take a look at who you'd like to race against and let us know.

I was really going back and forth between Pro and Sportsman. I am hoping that running with guys faster than me I can learn to be faster myself. I know I can't get any better unless I compete with better people. Should make for a fun and interesting season.

I'm leaning towards PRO. Gotta get some laps in and see how it feels.

I think im gonna have to start practicing lol.. also how is this 'policed' feels harsh to say that sorry cant think of a better word.. but is there a separate file that either driver downloads?

We can see in a results file if you've been running an assist. And if you are a PRO running any assist other than auto-clutch, you will be assessed a post race penalty of X positions per assist (still finalizing that bit). SPORTSMAN can run ABS & TC, I believe we may be allowing up to medium assist. ASC is off limits for both classes (and should be locked out on the server).
