Good fun last night. Experimented with pit strategies in Race 2 as I knew I didn't have the outright pace. Seemed to work, as I found myself as high as 4th...but shot myself in the foot trying to navigate traffic and spun the car 180. Dropped back to 7th waiting for traffic to clear so I could get turned around. Picked up 6th when Jeff dipped in for his 2nd stop. I knew my time was limited until Jeff ran me down. Sure enough, he caught up while I was keeping Marvin to the rears. The last 5-6 laps were white knuckle trying to brake deep enough into the corners to keep Jeff at bay...while still making sure I covered the apex of the corners to not allow him a free pass. Somehow in the end, I miraculously was able to stay in front of the Champ. Hell of a race.

I have to say that I'm starting to like this mod. I hated it when we ran that exhibition at Oran Park but recent updates to the mod and the sim and also Jason's tune and some seat time to learn how the tires behave have all really helped this to come together.

I had a really off night. I was in a crappy mood but needed the distraction. First race I had to pit because I was burning fuel much faster than I was in practice. Second race I spun trying to avoid someone. Oh well...was still fun. I do like this mod a little better than the old V8 mod and I like that we can chose which tires to use. Oh, and I also like the normal pit speeds!

You and me both Dave. I didn't have nearly enough practice for this race and it showed. But glad the series is back!

iRacing has taken him and holding him for ransom. I guess that's understandable, iRacing is bloody expensive (I call it Irichracing) It does not have to be expensive. You just need to identify the content you are interested in, beyond the base content, and purchase only that. Some of us buy everything, but that is not necessary in order to have a great experience. You can get three month trial memberships that include all base content for $0-$15, depending on whatever special they have going on.

And what have you guys done with Tony Diamond? Tony runs a lot of NASCAR over at iRacing (as do I). There really is no other option for drop-in competitive NASCAR sim racing. NASCAR the Game is a joke and the rFactor 1 VHR mod, although very good for a free product, just is not in the same league as iRacing's NASCAR.

I had good fun battling Kurt in both races last night. I love this mod. The V8 Supercars with rFactor 2 physics and a great Virtua LM track, Mid Ohio, makes for a superb sim racing experience. So nice to see rFactor 2 running so well, after years of "beta" testing and builds.

Yeah I had a great time last night. Lack of real practice showed for me. Gotta get more seat time in and get a paint job too. Lol Some real nice action going on and not a lot of racing alone. Spun it a few times with the last spin costing me several positions. Practice would have told me when and where I could push. Great to be out there on track again.

What is "auto lift" showing up in driver aids in the results (Jeff Hooper & David Fernandes) and Rich showing "unknown control" in Qually (I think)?

there is a setting in the player.JSON (something to that effect) that is called ~"Auto Lift" that is set to false. Dan suggested setting it to true and I find it makes a big difference on the downshifts. I (and others) were experiencing rear lockup if downshifting too rapidly. I found it helped me have more confidence entering corners. Thanks again, Dan!

Race 1 was fairly uneventful (which is sometimes a good thing). I got a pretty good jump off the line and beat Rich into Turn 1. From there I just tried to hit my marks and try not to overcook the tires. I hadn't done any long stints in practice, therefore wasn't sure how quick the tires would fall off. This gave me a good gauge of how they would fair for Race 2.
In Race 2, I bogged it off the line big time and Rich took the lead. He had excellent pace and just tried my best to stick close and conserve tires. Had a couple chances to make the pass, but didn't want to force the issue early in the race. When I finally decided to make the pass going into Turn 8, it was late into my first stint and went off the racing line into Turn 9 and damn near lost it. Got side by side and tapped doors, then barely hung on. Boza was right behind to make the best of my mistake, but I was able to hang onto 2nd.
All three of us pit at the same time (Rich, myself and Boza). I missed my pit stall as I couldn't see it until I was right on top of it. Had to throw it in reverse about a car length. I think Rich and Boza did the same thing. Boza came out of pit road in first and unfortunately Rich lost about 10-12 seconds. From there the chase was on with Boza. Again, I tried to stick close to his bumper and fill his mirrors, hoping he would make a mistake. He did a great job holding his line and in the end, tire wear got the best of him. He went off track between turns 8 and 9 and I took the lead. He still had pretty darn good pace even with his cooked tires, but I was able to hold him off in the end.
Had a lot of fun last night. Nice to get a couple early season victories under my belt, but it's clear that several guys are really starting to figure these cars out. It's going to make for some close racing all season long. I also am glad my tune (or a variation thereof) made this mod a bit more drivable for some guys. This season we are really trying to get the "fun" aspect back into this series and not take it quite as serious. Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves. If anyone needs help with any settings, setups, etc, just let us know and we will be happy to help out.
Also want to give a shout out to Sheldon and Dan for their Sportsman victories!

Rich showing "unknown control" in Qually (I think)? I'm not sure what that is... I've seen it for my car when we did an exhibition two weeks ago.

Had a fun evening. This mod is extremely challenging and I did better than I expected. I'm afraid I drove more defense than offence at times but it worked.

Thanks guys, trying to understand everything I notice in rF2 and this mod as well not just the car settings themselves. Rich you weren't supposed to talk about the nitrous on the Vodafone cars until a year or two after this series is over just like F1. Definitely having fun and agree this is turning into some tight racing just like, oh I don't know, Australian V8 Supercars

OK, so "Control" seems to relate to Driver/AI control not an actual driving aid. UnknownControl seems to be showing only on certain incomplete qualification laps. Maybe it's caused if a driver starts a lap and ESCs before leaving the pits? Dunno, just guessing there.
