Picked up the TDi Cup last week and decided to enter the GT Cup series for shits n giggles. I was a bit miffed as I also purchased Oulton Park, but was unable to run a race due to lack of people on during the race times I was available. Nothing like flushing money down the toilet (again). I did end up finally getting a GT Cup in race Monday night @ Okayama. Started thinking maybe things had gotten better...but once again another failed attempt at a race, V8 Supercars, last night. I was the only one there for the race. After the failed race attempt I hopped in the Caddy for a Global Challenge practice session at Bathurst. I was pleasantly surprised by the changes made to the car. It has a lot more grip now, and in turn much easier to keep pointed the right way. Had fun for about half hour with that car...until I got bored hot lapping (nobody on any server). I suspect I'll dabble with it for a couple weeks at least. I need to try to revisit it once in a while...since I've got so much damn money wrapped up in it.

Yeah, they perpetually get me from time to time.
That said, I did actually enjoy beating on the Jetta. It's just a damn shame I didn't get to run at Oulton Park...as I love that place. I did spend about 3 hours in a practice session BSing with a couple Mustangs on Friday night.

2 slowly dying classes you choose....gt3, skippy, advanced mx-5, indy car and Ruf cup is where everyone is at for the roads. 15 + grids at pretty much any time. V8s are mostly aussies and the servers don't pickup till around 1-2 am. Out of all my games on my hd it's the only one I can jump on at any given time time a find a race atm seems pretty much every sim sim is lacking participation. Summer time or over kill of available sim's ?

I haven't had an account for a few months. I'm waiting for a 50% sale to rejoin. I received one from them when I was really busy for work so I missed it. They wouldn't honor it post expiration (like a week). Oh well.

Interesting, I should check it out. I haven't driven that Jetta in 3 or 4 years... it was such a weird car I never drove it again.

The biggest thing I've found for me, is trying to get over the natural tendency to want to rev the piss out of it. Actually had a great scrap w/ a Canadian Monday night. Finished 4th right on his bumper. 8 cars in class, 20 cars total.

You should try the Star Mazda. Participation is always high with those races.

Yeah, that used to be one of my go to cars. Just been itching to run some tin-tops.

Chris, if you want to better plan your official series racing, click that series on the iRacing home page and then click "Results" under the title of the series in the top left hand corner of the screen. It will show you by day when the series goes official. For example, I checked the Global Challenge fixed series just now and it showed that every single race this week at Bathurst has gone official. The races are only 25 minutes long and you get one Fast Repair. They can be wreckfests, but overall, it is my favorite road series to run and the only one I do. Another good racing racing series is the GT Challenge series, which almost always goes official. I tried running it but the racing was too fast and aggressive for me, although I do love the feel of the RUF and BMW GT3 cars. The RUF Cup series, which is what I assume you are referring to when you say "GT Cup" is not very popular over here in the states, as evidenced by the lack of participation during the evening hours that would work for us in the states. As to kurupt's point about overabundance of sims, I completely agree. And it is only going to get worse once Project CARS, the Crew and Drive Club release in the next couple of months. I find that the only sims I can regularly devote attention to are iRacing, rFactor 2, Gran Turismo 6 and Forza 5. My rFactor 2 interest is focused now, since I am back to participating in V8 Supercars and so I regularly practice the coming event's track and have ever other Wednesday night booked to participate in the series.

Chris, in my text to you I forgot to mention that there's a decent iRacing GT series run over at Race2Play. I did an event with them a few months ago. Quite well-behaved like the usual R2P races.
I forget the series name but you should see it in the GBR Team's results.

GT Cup is Grand Touring Cup (FR500S/TDi/Solstace).
My problem is I'm not a fan of fixed series if there is an open on available. Global Challenge Open was dead last night.

The Mazda cup always have a full feild. Get your Irating above 1200 and it will put you in a faster group of racers. And all the tracks they run comes with the game.
