I received an email today from iracing in regards to there new pre-order program(really dont care) and a new maintenance mode that allows you to test your content in single mode while servers were down for maintenance.
This new feature got me thinking and was curious if anyone has brought this up in there forms, as i dont use there services anymore.
If a customer can now access there content while the servers are down, how about letting customers access there content in single practice mode when there subscription has expired....i did pay for it! i am just not paying to race online which my subscription covers

You're leasing their software, not buying it. Software as a Service (SaaS) is gaining traction in many areas and is how all software will be "purchased" in the future. AutoCAD no longer lets you buy their product. You lease it. Adobe is getting there too, if not already.

While the main site is down for maintenance, you will still have to logon to iracing to do the testing. It is not true offline testing. They have just setup a separate website for this at testing.iracing.com which only has the individual testing mode enabled.
When you lease the tracks and cars from iRacing, the leases are tied to your subscription, so if your subscription expires, your leases are suspended. If you do ever decide to renew your subscription, all the cars and tracks you have previously purchased leases for will still be available. As far as I know, they never completely delete accounts. The accounts are either active or inactive depending on whether you have an active subscription.

Oh, I'm so weak. I was just going to buy the Audi but then I noticed that all three cars minus 25% discount and some credits I had would get me all 3 cars for less than the price of a lunch and coffee. So... ordered.

Some people were saying they were able to test cars which they have not purchased as long as they downloaded them. This may be a way to try cars before you buy them.

That would be awesome if that proves to be the case...and it's not just a slip up on their end.
I would like to think they've missed more sales due to people not trying a car than they have gained by people that have bought a car they ended up hating (and never using).

Yes and no. My understanding is that this is limited to driving the cars you've downloaded for compatibility with multi-car events.
That said, it shows that you can download and drive something you don't own so they should be able to do the same with all content.
