Racing over at Cms and the guy that streamed one of our races had a much more detailed spotter. I asked him about it and its called CrewChief. It works with a bunch of Sims and is pretty easy to setup and use. thecrewchief.org/forum.phpIt even has voice commands. |

I finally got around to trying this in an iRacing race. It's pretty cool. I didn't use the voice commands but just mapped some buttons for the common commands. Definitely worth some time to explore all the options available...

Yeah crew chief is pretty cool. It even will call the drivers by name that you are racing with. For long races it will tell you how much fuel you have left (5 minutes of fuel remaining) and if the race leader pits and gets new tires it will tell you what compound they are now running.
The funny/sad thing is if you aren't driving well the spotter gets upset. I've heard him say "Ahh come on Jimmy!" Like he gets very disappointed with me. Like I need his judgement!

I have the swearing turned on and at one point it said something like "Let's go get that fucker..."
I mostly tried it for the fuel management. I was using the Kutu app for iRacing but it miscalculates fuel in certain situations and I couldn't trust it... I was spending more time double-checking the calculations than driving during the laps prior to a stop.

Swearing!? I didn't know that was a feature. I will be turning that on ASAP.
Over at CMS we were running 60 minute races and a full tank might get you half the race. I found the calculations Crew Chief game me were very accurate.

Dose it install in the game or stand alone? It's a standalone application and handles a bunch of sims from one interface. I start it then launch the sim. |

I've been using Crew Chief for a couple of months in the last FunCup series and on iRacing. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I've been pretty impressed at how well it works and how useful it is, even without using voice commands. There was just one unappreciated moment at Cadwell after limping across in last place when it informed me that "That was a complete waste of f#cking time." Not cool, Chief.  |

Only about a year and half late to the thread but Crew Chiefs is impressive. I am going to set up vice control soon.

For iRacing, Trading Paints is the only other add-on I use.

I also use VRS...but certainly wouldn't call it essential, mostly because it is a paid service. But it's been real handy to grab a set that you know is competitive in the right hands to use as a solid base to make minor tweaks too. Especially when hopping between up to 4 different cars a week. The other big benefit to VRS for me is the data logging. I can go back to any session I ran to compare laps to other team members or other reference laps...but the biggie is being able to grab fuel numbers at a glance. For me the time savings is well worth the money, but I'm also at the point where I have most of the content I want anyways.
