You should be able to install wherever you like. Don't forget to point the locations path in the new install back to your original install.
Cheers!

I keep seeing this point back to your original install...I have not done this as I rushed ahead and just added lite installs and bunged mods into them like there was no tomorrow. They all work fine so why the point back?

They all work fine so why the point back? It allows those of us w/ several mods (I think I've got close to a dozen by now) to have all of our tracks located in one file location, instead of having to copy the 1 track a dozen times to each mod. It's not such a big deal if you only ever run 1 mod on a particular track, but it saves disk room for those of us that like to run several cars/mods at a given location.

Ah that makes sense, I must start doing that, though space is not much of an issue i have a 1 terabyte drive dedicated to rFactor and keep all the zips of tracks in a folder so I can just unzip them into the lite folder that needs them.

Pulled from the Tips & Tweaks Forum: When you install extra version of rFactor lite for each mod, you can change your config file in the root directory to point to your main install of rFactor where you have your tracks installed. For example, the line in my config reads: TracksDir=C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\RFACTOR\GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS\ Essentially you change the TracksDir on the rFLite config.ini to point to the location of all your track installs. Certain tracks (like Lime Rock Park) don't work and will require separate installs, but 99% of the tracks will. So SMOK3Y, if you change this line in your TCM config, and "point" it to the location of the tracks in your original V8FU install, you'll be golden.

I would've picked it except for that damn backfire noise on downshifts. No way can I take 90 minutes of that with headphones on.

Go to the config file (open in Notepad) in your new rFLite install w/ mod (Enduracers in this case). Somewhere down the list you'll see "TracksDir=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx". The default is the location folder of that particular rF install. Change the xxxs to the file routing of the location folder in your original install (similar to Hawks' example above). Your exact routing may differ from Hawks' example above. For example mine is on my E drive (TracksDir=E:\Games\rFactor\GAMEDATA\LOCATIONS). It's a lot easier to explain as you're walking through it.

Slashes in the file path go the other way Fixed. Happy? There is a reason I don't get too far into computers...I know just enough to be dangerous.
