So I'm starting to piece together a dedicated sim rig PC. Usually, I'm on top of the hardware scene but I just haven't cared to stay up to date lately. i5 is the cat's meow for sim racing from what I read... is the 2500K the best value/performance CPU right now? Motherboard is a no-brainer... I always buy ASUS. RAM and PS will be Corsair. This will probably be the system that I finally go with liquid cooling because I want to overclock without a CPU cooler the size of a 6-pack

I've been very happy with my 2500k. Also have the corsair memory and Asus mb. I think that's the way to go.

ya it is still considered (here anyway) the best bang for buck gaming CPU alot of people are starting to go for IVY equivelant. but even those people still recommend the sandy bridge i5 2500k for extreme O/C. the IVYs arent as good for oc as the sandys they use a crappy thermal like paste for the CPU lid instead of soldered like the sandy. ive got mine clocked to 4.4Ghz no change except multiplier tbh ive had it to 4.8 just by multiplier but ran pretty warm and not as stable. if i was going to run 4.8 id upgrade the mobo of mine as its a 'cheaper' one. but best bang for ya buck definately unless you have to have latest chips. i also use the Corsair Vengance ram (8gig)

Yup..reason he having me build it...it will all be setup for him ready to roll...ivee put the parts list together...just waiting on funds...
That why going with amd ... between mobo and process..alocates 150 bucks more to video card then what comparable Intel stuff costs. That amd proc is a rocket ship ..like any of there stuff bump it by .5 MHz and it really comes alive...

I love this CPU, which I use in my gaming PC. IMO, its the best bang for your buck. I have mine overclocked to 4.8 ghz. It was easy as pie. It runs nice and cool with the Hyper + CPU cooler. iRacing runs much better on my gaming PC with this CPU, even without the overclock, than it does on my desktop PC, which has an AMD Phenom Black Edition 955.
