Hey guys, I have a couple of questions for you. I tried to install the Historix mod but it says I need to have GT Legends installed??? Also, I downloaded the 4gb patch and the force feedback patch, what do I do with them? One more, I've noticed my graphics look nothing like the videos that Seahawk has put up on youtube, I suppose that would be my graphics card? I'm running a Nvidia 8600 or something.

To install the Historix mod, you need to have the GTL disc for install (verification). GTL doesn't need to be installed itself. The GTL verification allows the Historix group to use the GTL models with the approval of Simbin (GTL producers). I got my copy for something like $7 from Amazon. Or you may be able to borrow one locally. I'll leave the technical questions for the resident techies.

Stinky 1) I can't get the 4gb patch to work on my Win7 system so i don't know if thats workable.... 2) your video card is more then adequate for rfactor & the V8 mod. It has to do with the config settings (the rfactor configurator) If you running the default direct x 7 setting (the performance one) is will "draw" less features in the game. Depending on your system, you should be able to adjust the display setting for better quality on the ingame display menu. Stuff life textures, shadows etc are probably defaulted on low or medium. Try adjusting everything up (from low to medium or from medium to high etc) Do this to each item one a time and test. So bump the first one..try game, raceday with a full field..then go next on list..try game. Continue this process until the game crashes or it gets to jerky to play..then dial everything down a notch to compensate for more players online. I'm currently tinkering with mine to find my max.. Hope this helps.

As for part 2 Spaz is probably right. Go to Start/all programs and look for rFactor. click on rFactor config. make sure it is running in DX9 mode and 32bit color on screen res.

Don't fret... that stupid Historic UI tripped me up too. That was the first hint that I needed to start installing all mods to separate rFactor folders.

Man, I work on pc's for a living but rFactor is confusing the hell out of me! Thanks guys for the help, will try some of these out tonight. Thanks for the offer Spaz, but I think for now I'm not even going to worry about the Historix mod. Just going to concentrate on getting the V8's and the stock cars running for me.

Don't re-install. All you need to do is select V8SC series in the player menu. Enter a practice, then back out of the game. It automatically loads the last mod you were using.

That Historic mod is a bitch to install actually. Or least it was for me. Intially i didn't pay attention and just installed it like i did the v8 mod...over my rfactor install. That overwrote everything and made the game dedicated to Historic with no option i could see to change mods. Had to grab that folder move it to another drive..(I have 5 in my comp) Reinstall rfactor, drop my v8 rfactor back in its place. ( i'm learning to make backups of the rfactor folder before i do anything) Followed thier instructtion to the T on thier manual for a stand alone install...no go. Grab the saved rfactor that had the hisoric in it that took over the v8 mod and dropped it back in the hostoric folder and it worked. Duno what i did wrong on the stand alone , but hry it works now so not gonna mess with it. Least the VHR2012 stand alone mod went with out a hitch Guess roundy round stuff just likes me best. lol

Well that what i thought...shouldnt be this hard. My bad for not reading the instructions on the historic install...i'd have saved myself an hour or reinstalling and juggling folders. Its definately a deal of understanding whats being done where on the files and the mods. Especially when you don't know you're away the game yet. Weird i can crack a Video software or edit the registry for a master suite of progs...but this rfactor stuff...boy..lol
