hey guys, I am in the progress of building my own racing rig with a triple screen setup. I came across a thead on inside sim racing giving tips on maximizing your FPS, a few i knew but some i didnt like sound they said just use engine and tire and turn every thing else off, onscreen turn off all the hud. Disabling the wheel and hands. I prefer cockpit cam but some dont allow u to move close enough to the dash and in some sims u can use bonet cam and move the cam back so the top of the dash shows i wish theywould create a cam thats in in between the two for those who dont like seeing the ingame cockpit view with wheel and hands. Anyways back to the point of this thread, until i get a sli setup or 690 i need to save as much fps as i can but i like the ingame tachometer. I googled and came across youtube vids with guys using usb tachometers but when i looked where they bought them it said nothing or the store has been closed. Anyone know a link to where to buy one, how much and is it plug and play with a driver?
cheers

You should play w/ the FOV settings in addition to moving the seat. In rF, 40-50 is common for a FOV setting.
The in-game tach shouldn't impact your FPS much. Shadows are the killer for FPS. Turn down shadows and anti-aliasing and you should see a reasonable improvement.

I run 35 FOV with my triples. If the tach hurts framerate you got serious probelms. I run GID which has a rotating map with position indicators for all the cars and about 6-8 different data displays and I can't determine any hit to performance with it enabled. You would be shocked at the amount of stuff I have on-screen If you want to gain some fps here are my top tips: - add +highprio +fullproc to your rFactor shortcut path - select Disable Desktop Composition in the shortcut properties - turn off Replay recording in the game's settings - you can try to turn off Multiview in rFConfig. This will result in warped side monitors so I don't really recommend it except in critical situations. - like Helios says, turn down or off shadows, turn off Shadow Blur, and lower AA definintely helps. As far as the tach goes... Basher was working on one a few months ago
