Does or has anyone here taken advantage of the "Ghost Racing" feature of iRacing? Here is some documentation on it. Seems like this would be a good primer for running in the crowds without your SR taking a hit. Cheers! Yes I found it by accident, it is a very strange experience.

Well Mrs Knight has been her usual wonderful self and has said I can get all tracks needed to compete in D class series. The deal has always been I am allowed to spend the same as she does on her various keep fit nights. As she is the only one earning at the moment that was fair enough. But after hearing me moan about the fact that I suddenly needed more track to compete we had a chat about how iRacing works and she said okay you can have some tracks in advance...I do love Mrs Knight :-)

My wife doesn't know exactly how much I spent on iRacing, but she knows it's a lot. The way she sees it as long as I'm sitting in my racing cockpit in my man cave, I'm not out in the bars chasing other women, so she really doesn't care. Besides she gets her spending money and uses it for clothes, shoes, purses and other things I don't understand so we are even.

A 90 lap incident free race can do wonders for your SR. Just ran the open setup B race at Homestead. Started 16th, finished 15th out of 21. Lost 20 iRating, but gained +.26 SR. A fair trade for me.

Well today I hit C class road after a nice race with some very fair drivers, started from the pit but the expected first corner mayhem never happened, fought my way to 6th in a field of 13 without a single indecent and a healthy .55 SR to get me easily into C. Also finally on my way to D oval, once again started from the pit and this time a good decision, picked my way through the chaos, and got to 8th out of 17 stayed clean and steady and by the end of the race I took third. Another .55

I've been running the MP4 a lot lately in the Prototype series. Except for the strange high speed understeer I'm slowly getting used to the car and liking it a lot (for iRacing road racing that is). I'll probably run the same car in the GT series.

So question to you guys that have raced with me and know how I drive, I need a class c car and would like your thoughts on which one may suit me best.

Knight, I think you would get the most bang for your buck out of the McLaren, which is currently being used in two different road series, the Grand-Am and the GT Challenge. It drives like its on rails, particularly with Helios' excellent tune.

Hmm I was leaning that way, mostly because it originates from this side of the pond...where we have corners :-P

I agree with Lawyer on the McLaren Recommendation. Although I prefer the Corvette, I do have the McLaren and it is a fun car to drive. One thing to note though is that you will still need another car if you plan to move up to A class. The McLaren isn't used for any current series in B class right now, but the Corvette is used in both the C class GT Challenge series and the B class Prototype & GT Challenge series. Just something to think about, not trying to pressure you or anything. And remember that getting an A class road license only opens up the F1 series and I haven't even thought about trying that yet. I have a feeling only the super serious big boys play in that series and I am definitely not at that level.
